Crash Out! is a series of Crash Bandicoot web videos made by Sir Isaac (for a time known as Animado) on YouTube. The series follows Crash, his friends and his enemies hanging out on N. Ferno Island, where they live in peace when they aren't making new games.

The series only has 3 episodes, the first two being released in July 2014 and later remade in 2017, while the third was made in 2017. The remastered versions were removed from the site in 2019, but have recently been reuploaded.

You can find the original versions of the first two shorts here. For extras (like trailers, a commentary for "I Am Bandicoot" or deleted scenes from the same episode), try this.

List of Shorts

  • "Bad Bandicoot": In trying to help Cortex with his car, Crash is conked on the head and develops amnesia. Cortex seizes the opportunity to make Crash the general he always wanted, but when Crash becomes more evil than him, Neo must find a way to turn him back to normal.
  • "I Am Bandicoot": Crash is tired of people not remembering who he is and is convinced by N. Brio to take a potion that'll help restore his fame. Unfortunately, Brio's potion turns him into a monstrous behemoth, leaving Coco and Aku Aku to save the day.
  • "The Camp Out": Crash wants to go camping but everyone is either busy or doesn't want to go (on account of the fact that Crash isn't exactly a good camper), so he gets Cortex to come while the doctor is trying to obtain a rare tree sap in Wumpa Woods. How long can Cortex last before he tries to hurt Crash?

In General

  • Adaptational Intelligence: Crash, Koala Kong and Ripper Roo are now intelligent enough to speak, the former only speaking a few words in the Radical Era, and the latter two never doing so.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: The Bandicoots' enemies list are on peaceful terms with them here. Like the song says, "The villains aren't so bad!"
  • Adapted Out: Aku Aku and Uka Uka weren't supposed to be included in the series' original videos. Lampshaded by Crash in the original take of "I Am Bandicoot".
  • Evil Wears Black: Cortex now wears a black lab coat.
  • Mythology Gag: The series makes several nods to the games from the music to the continuity to the characterization of the cast.
  • Musical Episode: Each episode includes a song, complete with bright background visuals.

    Bad Bandicoot
  • Butt-Monkey: Cortex ends up as one by the end of the episode, left in Crash's trap by Nina.
  • Deus Exit Machina: Neither Coco nor N. Gin are around to fix Cortex's car, leading Crash to come help. A quick cutaway shows they're both vacationing at the same location.
  • Deus ex Machina: Nina ends up saving her uncle from being incinerated by Crash.
  • Given Name Reveal: Cortex's lab assistant that appears throughout the episode is named Glenn.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Crash forgets who he is and Cortex decides to take advantage of this by turning him evil.
  • Noodle Incident: The remastered version has Nina mention one where Cortex gave Uka Uka a Christmas sweater for his birthday. Cortex states Uka never got over that.
  • Talk to the Fist: To turn Crash back to normal, Nina slugs him in the face.
  • Villain Song: "Good to be Bad", which has Crash describe his evil plan to Cortex, who he's gonna use to power his machine.

    I Am Bandicoot
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Beaker, one of N. Brio's potions that he brought to life.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: A deleted scene for the remastered version has Crash point out the episode being a remake, claiming it to be as "N. Sane" as remaking his old games: he, Coco and Aku Aku then turn to the camera with smiles on their faces.
  • The Cameo: Willie Wumpa Cheeks appears on a bus advertisment for Von Clutch's Motorworld. He also appeared in a deleted scene alongside Pasadena O'Possum.
  • Deus ex Machina: Coco and Aku Aku are the one who cure Crash.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: One of the background characters blames Fake Crash for destroying N. San City.
  • "I Am" Song: "Show 'Em You're a Bandicoot", where N. Brio encourages Crash to take the potion in order to make people remember who he is.
  • Informed Species: Crash is annoyed that people don't remember his species (even though it's in his flippin' name), confusing him for a fox, a weasel or a honey badger.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: N. Brio and Beaker are knocked out of the sky by the mutated Crash.
  • Magic Pants: Initially averted when Crash mutates. Cortex lampshades this before Crash's pants rip apart, revealing his underwear.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Fake Crash, who's just returned to the city, is blamed and beaten up for destroying it due to his resemblance to Crash.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Before drinking the potion, Crash declares "I am Bandicoot! Hear me roar!" This is one of Coco's quotes from Crash Tag Team Racing.
    • The episode ends with Crash craving pancakes like in Crash of the Titans, which the bandicoots have in the alternate ending.
  • Noodle Incident: Crash once had to deal with a jeweler who mistook him for Sonic the Hedgehog.
  • Original Character: Beaker Beaker Flasky, N. Brio's living potion bottle. When Crash asks what he is, Brio gives this answer:
Brio: He's my creation and my best friend. Shut up and get used to him!
    Crash: (deadpan) Ok.
  • Shout-Out: After Crash mutates and (initially) has Magic Pants, Cortex remarks it's a good thing his pants stayed on.
  • Tempting Fate: Cortex says it's a good thing Crash's pants stayed on right before they're torn to shreds.

    The Camp Out
  • Blatant Lies: Aku Aku gets out of camping with Crash by saying he's getting his nails done. Crash buys it.
  • Brick Joke:
    • When Cortex asks Crash how he got into his castle, Crash merely says he'll pay for the window. Later when Crash sends Cortex home, he flies through a broken window down a staircase leading into his lab, with Cortex realizing that was how Crash got in.
    • N. Gin ends up swallowing evo-wumpa tree sap, forcing him to breathe fire for the majority of his screentime, even towards the end.
  • The Cameo:
    • Coco makes a silent one before Aku Aku warns her about Crash.
    • Several characters appear when Crash asks his friends to go camping with him:
      • N. Brio and Dingodile running their respective businesses.
      • Crunch at the gym with Tiny and Koala Kong in the background.
      • N. Tropy and Ripper Roo in their homes.
      • Nina silently shows up in a store.
      • The remastered version includes the Komodo Brothers, Willie Wumpa Cheeks, and Rilla Roo.
    • Spyro the Dragon appears as a stuffed toy.
  • Camping Episode: Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
  • Here We Go Again!: After Crash sends Cortex home, he finds that Cortex dropped the bottle containing the tree sap he came to collect and ends the short with this line:
Crash: I hope he remembers how to get here!
  • I Drank WHAT?!: Cortex drinks out of a pot he assumes has coffee which he describes as "cold and tastes like wumpa coins". Crash tells him he's drinking out of the bandicoot's portable urinal, much to Cortex's disgust.
  • Rockers Smash Guitars: Played with. At the end of the song, Cortex takes Crash's guitar and furiously smashes it on the Bandicoot's head.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After learning Crash is going camping and hearing his approaching voice, Coco jumps into a trash can and sneaks off while Crash is talking to Aku Aku.
  • Spit Take: Cortex does this when Crash tells him he's drinking pee, not coffee.
  • Totally Radical: The Komodo Brothers' only lines in the remastered version is repeating the word "Bro".
  • You Answered Your Own Question: Crash is quick to realize that Nina definitely won't come camping with him.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Near the end of "We Will Find our Homes", Cortex discovers the Evo-Wumpa Tree is the same tree which Crash has turned into his home.
