WMG / Transformers: Beast Wars (2021)

Go To

Inferno is going to be female in this continuity.
They seem interested in getting more female representation in the form of Nyx and Skold, so they might as well Gender Flip a pre-existing character. Inferno might work best since he's got the ant mentality and soldier ants are female.
  • That could work; theoretically, the comic could also take advantage of Inferno's delusion to provide an interesting change in dynamic with the other Predacons from the cartoon, mixing Straw Feminism with Insane Troll Logic: believing that She, Skold and Blackarachnia outrank the other Predacons because they're female and that Megatron is female because "she's" their leader.
  • Jossed, Inferno shows up as a member of the Children of the Vok completely unchanged, apart from different loyalties.

At least not for a while. Somethings are already different this time around and another change could be one of the other Predacons switching sides near the beginning with Dinobot not doing so till much later. As for which one would change allegiance, my money is either on Waspinator due to him leaving the Predacons at the end of the original series or Skold who is described as shy and needing to come out of her shell and this could be a reason for that. If/when Dinobot does leave the Predacons, this could be mixed with his season two arc about him questioning his role in life and the Predacons but end with him joining the Maximals rather than dying.
  • Jossed: Dinobot betrays the Predacons to save Nyx from Tarantulus in issue 3.

If/when they have the transmetal upgrade the entire cast will gain it instead of just the majority of it

Terrorsaur and Scorpinok will survive longer than in the cartoon

Terrorsaur possibly becoming a Transmetal like in the Metals manga.

  • Possibly jossed in Terrorsaur's case as he is murdered by Skold even earlier than he died in the show. Though as theorized below. His body and spark are still available for potential revival or reformatting

Other characters that could show up
Characters from the toyline, anime spin-offs, etc that could return:
  • Wolfang: Much like older plans for the show itself, albeit possibly even combined with his Uprising incarnation.
  • Insecticon: See above.
    • Both confirmed as Children of the Vok

Characters from The Gathering and The Ascending will appear at some stage.
If only as nothing more than a little nod to IDW's previous foray into Beast Wars.
  • Solicitations for issues 9-11 imply that Razorbeast himself will be joining the crew.

Skold will defect.
  • Counterargument, given her reasons for being with the Predacons, she probably would ditch both sides and become independent.
    • Jossed, she stays with the Predacons in the end

The G1 Dinobots will appear
Optimus implies they disappeared under mysterious circumstances
  • While it was planned it ultimately never happened

The comic takes place in the Transformers: Animated continuity.
  • They have a similar art style and both emphasize that there are inherent differences between the two factions rather than the conflict being purely ideological.

  • The idea of inherent differences has shown up in other continuities, including the Gen 1 cartoon. So it isn't quite a solid guess. It would be interesting, and a Animated Alternate Universe isn't impossible.

Characters from II and Neo will show up
  • Confirmed

Humans will play a bigger role
The fleshlings have been a little on the down recently, and with both a future and a past they have two options. They could show up as caveman like in the cartoon, or perhaps the humans have an advanced society in the future era the Maximals came from.
  • Given not a single one has shown up and the series is almost over, it can safely be said that this one's looking Jossed.
    • Indeed, no human shows up.

Terrorsaur's spark and body will be reformatted into a new predacon.
As Tarantulas commented after saving Terrorsaur from Megatron in a prior issue, he would prefer that Terrorsaur is killed in a manner that would leave a body that he could salvage resources from. Skold leaving his body and bleeding spark side by side would definitely give the spider, or possibly the Vok, opportunities for experiments... or food.
  • Seemingly confirmed in issue 12.
  • Semi-confirmed, Semi-jossed by issue 16. Terrorsaur has indeed been brought back to life by Tarantulas, as a zombie-like sparkless drone with no mind of its own.

This universe is part of a divergent timeline where the Decepticons were defeated easily.
Megatron's motive is stated as making sure that history didn't forget him, as it did his namesake. Being the leader of a faction of a war that lasted for millennia, one would not expect that the original Megatron would be considered forgotten by history, so the logical assumption is that this is a continuity where Megatron and the Decepticons were defeated shortly after their uprising, leaving them as just a failed rebel group in the history books.

Alternatively, the original Megatron was overthrown near the start of the war.
Starscream and Shockwave, for two, are characters who are known to be prone to rebelling against Megatron, but there are dozens of others who see themselves as a superior option for leader. Maybe after the death of Sentinel Prime, they launched a successful coup, deposing, and perhaps killing Megatron, thus leaving him a forgotten figure in cybertronian history, as his rightful place in it was taken by someone else.

The comic will eventually introduce a Predacon with an alligator beast mode, who's modeled after the Basic Class Alligator!Megatron.
Nyx was, after all, modeled after the Basic Class Bat!Optimus Primal Toy that was introduced early in the toyline. Of course this particular toy was only sold in a the Optimus Primal vs Megatron two pack which featured a Basic Class Megatron that transformed into an alligator. Since the comic has shown a certain willingness to create brand new characters in addition to bringing in character from the toyline reinventing a largely forgotten Megatron toy as a new character wouldn't be out of the question. They might even be used as a rival for Nyx and, as an added bonus, if he's a guy it could be a good breakaway from the cliche of the two female characters of the enemy factions being each other's sworn enemies.
  • Jossed, no such character shows up

The comic is set in the distant future of the Transformers (2019) continuity.

Had the comic not been canceled the Children of the Vok would have been added to the factions normally
Making the teams
  • Maximals
    • Tigatron
    • Airazor
    • Polar Claw
    • Wolfgang
    • Cybershark
    • Armordrillo
    • Snarl

    • Saberback
    • Transquito
    • Buzz Saw
    • Razorclaw
    • Insecticon
    • Spittor
    • Retrax
    • Jetstorm

Had the series continued, the planet both factions were on would have been revealed to be Earth in the future.
The writers might've decided to go on the Not His Sled route and made a new plot twist where both Maximals and Predacons were in Earth's future which would explain why there are more alien looking fauna because of many centuries of evolution. And for future storylines, humanity would've become a space-faring race and would've eventually returned to their former planet and become a third faction in the Beast Wars.
