The truth of the world is...
  • ...A Dying Dream experienced by Stella during her final moments, in which her subconscious comes to terms with her own death. This is the explanation put forth by the digital artbook.
  • ...Actually really the world between reality and the Afterlife.
    • The Lily DLC confirms it.
  • ...Both of the explanations above, and Stella is a Wind Fish, or gifted her own mini limbo world by Hades.

Charon doesn't actually go through to the Afterlife through the Everdoor.
Note that unlike all the other times someone goes through the Everdoor, including when Stella does, Charon enters in a dark mist. If it really is set in between the world between reality and the Afterlife, as once Stella goes through, someone else needs to become the next Spiritfarer.

Stella's appearance
  • Stella's youthful appearance raises some questions, especially in the context provided by the digital artbook. However, given the nature of the setting, it's possible that Stella's current appearance is not strictly accurate to how she looked at the time of her death: instead, she's taken on an idealized appearance with a Vague Age, perhaps returning to how she looked at a more carefree period of her life.
    • Lily is roughly in her late 30's, early 40's at the time of her death.
    • If the game takes place in the same year it was released, Stella is 47 (she was explicitly born in 1973), and Lily is probably in her early to mid 40's (since she doesn't look that much younger than Stella from what we see of their childhood).

Buck is the next Spiritfarer
  • Buck is the only spirit that Stella cannot take back to the Everdoor. This means, if found, and all the other spirits are released, he is the last spirit on the boat, just as you are the last spirit Charon sees before he goes through the Everdoor at the start of the game. Buck's other qualities makes him a good Spiritfarer, including expert knowledge about the spirit world and an upbeat personality.

Stella's mysterious spouse
  • Stella's spouse is only mentioned in passing, in that you can find Stella's marriage ring at the end of one of the missions. Nevertheless, the lack of spouse (or ex-spouse) in the spirit world is pretty jarring especially as every other person important to Stella is either talked about explicitly (like Stella's dad) or makes an appearance. Reasons for the (ex-)spouse's non appearance could include:
    • The spouse has died a long time ago, and has already gone through the Everdoor (like Stella's dad).
    • Stella is divorced, the ex-spouse is still alive, and they are not at her deathbed.
    • The spouse is one of the spirits in the spirit world, and the game writers forgot to mention who. Time to put on your Shipping Goggles.
      • Lily seems to support Gustav x Stella. When looking though Stella's album, Lily calls Stella a 'perv' after reading that Gustav gave Stella his address and invited her to his art exhibition in Nagasaki.

Some of the Spirits have only recently entered the Spirit World despite dying Years ago.
  • It’s odd how despite some of the spirits dying years ago in the real world none of them went through the everdoor before Stella came, this could imply that some spirits have a possible delay before they enter the spirit world, or time operates in a Year Outside, Hour Inside logic.

There will be a Spiritfarer animated series on Netflix.
  • Think about it - the mobile game port was handled by Netflix Games and Netflix itself is no stranger to well-received video game adaptations such as Castlevania, Arcane and The Cuphead Show!.
    • The series could possibly be done in miniseries format, with each episode focusing on a particular spirit's storyline.
    • Predictably, the first and last episodes will be about Stella's entry to the spirit world and her departure through the Everdoor, respectively.
