- A prequel focusing on Julius and Ben King and the Origins of the Saints.
- A Time Travel Quest, involving, saving Aisha, and saving Johnny from being abducted by Zinyak.
- A Stealth Sequel, advertised as a reboot with a new protagonist, with Earth somehow restored.
- An alternate continuity sequel ignoring SRTT and SRIV
- Given Deep Silver taking the reigns and putting in a couple of Shout Outs to a certain game there'll be a part where we get to do to Charon what we would have really loved to do in that game.
- It'll be revealed that Earth's destruction was a simulation for ultimate emotional torture and when the Saints go home, they are public enemy number one because Dex has used resources to take over the world in the Saints absence. So basically a larger scale SR 2.
- Or if they aren't joking with the Dead Island crossover, it'll be revealed that the events of the first two DI games took place in the Saints absence. The Boss will have the ability to telepathiclly fuse himself/herself to a playable character in Dead Island, fusing the player traditions of both games.
- Semi-Confirmed for "Enter the Dominatix", which opens with Pierce as Mayor of Steelport, and Shaundi understandably saying it was the worst idea they had... In spite of being alive and well when the Zin lay siege to Steelport.
Except Gat.
The problem? Time Machine's half-busted and fixing it inovlves running across space and time stealing stuff from everywhere, getting back from malfunctioned attempts, and hijinks.
To tie back to the earlier games, with the introduction of Time Travel at the end of Saints Row IV, maybe the final Big Bad is a supporter/relative of Zinyak who's trying to invoke a Grandfather Paradox on the Boss by going back in time to kill their ancestor, thus ensuring that the Saints never thwart the Zin invasion. Of course, this could lead to Saints from the present day also going back in time to stop him, and becoming the past Boss's homies.
Bonus points if all this mucking around in time changes history to accelerate Earth's technological growth so that, by the time Zinyak shows up to invade, his ship is blown away by a purple spaceship with gold spinners, which the Saints then use to conquer the Zin homeworld...
This game's Saints will gradually become grittier and closer to those from the original universe as the story progresses.
- A lot of criticism surrounding this game revolves around how the new Saints don't look like gangsters. Their motivation is apparently to earn money to pay back their tuition fees, and they look like normal young adults rather than tough, brutal criminals. And their gang color is turquoise rather than purple. But it's possible that this is only how they look at the start. As the story progresses, they might Take a Level in Badass, and start to look the part, perhaps even swapping their gang color for classic Saints Purple. One promotional image◊ shows the new Saints with the classic purple color scheme along with a pile of money, big guns, and a bullet-riddled car, lending credence to this theory.
- Seemingly Confirmed with this update posted on the Saints Row website. Quoting the paragraph that seems to basically confirm this line-by-line:
"A lot of you have been asking, what happened to the classic Saints fleur and purple? Rest assured, these are still very much part of the Saints’ identity. We begin by showing the Saints at the start of their criminal journey, over the course of the game they form the Saints and rise to the top of the criminal underworld, reaping rewards and recruits along the way. The further they go down that path, the more you’ll see the purple ‘uniform’ come into play, and the more visually adorned with purple and fleur de lys the Saints, their HQ, and their recruits become."
Professor Genki is the leader of the Idols
- The Idols have been described as a "cult of personality", and many of its members wear pink cat helmets. Professor Genki also wears a pink cat helmet (though it might be a real cat head as a result of a Fusion Dance with his cat), and in a promotional short by Tim & Eric, he is shown running a cult. Once Idol in the trailer is even seen with a Genki design on their helmet. The Idols' Zerg Rush tactics also imply that they're suicidally devoted to their leader, which could make them the perfect fodder for a Super Ethical Reality Climax minigame.
The Reboot is actually a sequel to Saints Row IV
- At the end of Saints Row IV, The Saints discovered time travel and played around with history. The Rebooted timeline occurs because The Original Saints accidentally erased themselves, allowing the new Saints to form.
