WMG / Reign of the Supermen

Go To

The two-part animated adaptation will end with Superman donning one of his Rebirth costumes.
The War-verse has to catch up to the comics somehow.
  • It may even end with him donning the classic comics costume, red trunks and all, since he's wearing that again in Action Comics #1000 and the fans want it back anyway.
    • Confirmed; the ending sees Clark in his Superman Reborn costume, which is much closer to the classic suit.

Intergang is a Chekhov's Gun.
They weren't just there for a Batman Cold Open. In Reign of the Supermen they will turn out to have an important effect on the plot. (This WMG stems from the fact that in the first film, they're just kind of... forgotten, after the first few scenes, despite the investigation into them not being really resolved).
  • Semi-confirmed. They're not too prominent, but the Eradicator takes them on a few times. Lois and John Henry Irons investigate them.

Given the presence of Cyborg Superman, events relating to Warworld, Mongul and Coast City will be adapted.
The focus of ensuring the full Story Arc of The Death of Superman in this animated Continuity means it will also include Hank Henshaw's willingness to stain the Man of Steel's legacy, which includes recruiting Mongul and the inevitable destruction of Coast City.

  • Jossed, none of these are present.

The Stinger will be Hal Jordan giving into his fear after Coast City is destroyed...
...leading to Parallax slowly influencing him, setting up the Emerald Twilight Story Arc of the Green Lantern mythos and Hal's solo movie for the DC Universe Animated Original Movies.

Jossed, since the events with Coast City didn't happen.

The Underworlders story will happen in this movie.
It was Adapted Out out of The Death of Superman, but we see Dabney Donovan working on Lex's "army" which escape from their chambers along with Superboy.

  • Jossed.

Lois and Diana will team-up together and become friends.
Of course things will be awkward between them at first, due to Diana's past relationship with Clark.

  • Somewhat confirmed, they become friends and Diana even provides Lois with some breadcrumbs to start her investigation, but they don't get involved in any dangerous situations together.

Cyborg's dad will perform a Heroic Sacrifice.

  • Jossed, he isn't even in the movie.

Janet Klyburn will be killed by Lex just for telling him off.

  • Jossed.

After Cyborg-Superman sends Doomsday off into space, it'll untwist its neck and laugh.

Darkseid or someone else from Apokolips sent Doomsday
Rewatching The Death of Superman I noticed that the meteor came out of a boom tube. I think this will be relevant in the sequel.

  • Confirmed.
