WMG / Peacemaker (2022)

Go To

Peacemaker is comic book movie Billy Elliot.
  • The intro is a dance number.
  • Peacemaker's father is a bad dude and has toxic views on masculinity.
  • The way he dances during moments of vulnerability (or at the very least shows how much he wants human connection).
  • Just how seemingly genuine Peacemaker is during these sad albeit funny dancing scenes.
  • If this trend continues, the show might even end on a dance number with everyone including the butterflies.
  • Massive season 1 final scene spoiler: Yeah it didn't end with a dance number or his real dad accepting him, but it did end with Peacemaker, the Butterfly Queen, Eagly, and "Ghost" Dad all hanging out at Peacemaker's porch with the song Apologize by The Last Vegas playing. Close enough!

Wolfgang Schmidt will be Peacemaker’s grandfather instead of his father.
  • With his son and Peacemaker’s father taking after him as a white supremacist.

Adrian Chase's suicide in the comics will be alluded to.
  • Or will be outright adapted or Peacemaker will be forced to kill him if Vigilante ends up getting a little too out of control.

Surviving members of Task Force X or the loved ones of dead members (Such as June Moon/Enchantress) will show up at some point.
  • Our “hero” is going to have to reckon with his actions on Corto Maltese…

Clemson Murn will betray Project Butterfly
  • It's been clearly established Murn is loyal to Waller and that he's no stranger to doing horrible things for the sake of his job, and Peacemaker's fear that Murn will betray him indicates he's probably turned on people because of his job before. It's almost a certainty that Waller will order him to do something that puts him in conflict with the rest of Project Butterfly, and he'll turn on them.
    • Alternatively, Murn will betray Project Butterfly, but not because of loyalty to Waller and/or an order from her. After all, him being a butterfly is a strong conflict of interest.
    • It's established pretty solidly that he is not loyal to Waller and doesn't trust her.

Clemson Murn will betray the Butterflies using Project Butterfly
  • With the reveal that Murn himself is a butterfly, there are two scenarios: One, Murn has been taken over sometime during the mission. Two, Murn is a butterfly trying to kill others of his kind.
  • This may be a parallel to the White Dragon who is a racist super villain, maybe there are butterflies who rather than posses people, live symbiotically with them instead, and Murn is either for or against these specific type of butterflies. That or he hates butterflies of a different color. *SHRUGS*
  • Confirmed as of Episode 6. He's a Hunter of Their Own Kind.

At some point, Wild Dog will appear for an episode
  • Possibly due to him killing butterflies in his home turf of Driftless Region Illinois/Iowa unsanctioned. He'll be a foil to Peacemaker, with the similarities and differences between the two a focal point of the episode(s). This may also be a place to introduce Cave Carson, to help the team figure out what's happening scientifically with the butterflies.

The Butterflies are the DCEU version of the Shan
  • Small insectoid aliens capable of possessing humans while residing within the host's brain, and using the possessed bodies to try and gradually achieve control of the Earth. A future episode may have the possibility of the Butterflies referring to themselves as the Shan.

This incarnation of Judomaster is a Sweet Polly Oliver
  • Their short stature, the fact that even when being put on makeshift life support their costume stays on, and their androgynous-sounding voice makes this at least plausible.

Auggie Smith ends up as an ally against the Butterflies
  • The series' implication that Auggie will end up fighting the main cast as the White Dragon is a Red Herring to distract from the Black Comedy twist of a superpowered racist unintentionally helping to stop an Alien Invasion, especially one that lines up perfectly with the conspiracy theories he had been watching on right-wing media.
    • Jossed. Kind of hard for him to do that now that he's dead.

Peacemaker went to prison for one of his father's crimes

Mostly just makes Chris' life sadder, but when he talks to his father in prison he says "Just this one make the sacrifice." as if he had shouldered some sacrifice for his father.

The Butterflies will be revealed to be Good All Along
  • The alien race haven't done anything outright villainous at the moment. So there's a possibility that the finale could be that they're secretly preparing the world for a worse alien invasion that's to come and the crew will aid them in the second season to protect earth from this threat.
    • As of episode 6 this one appears to be largely out the window, save for outliers like the Murn!Butterfly.
    • What if they want peace... and they don't care how many men, women, or children they have to kill to get it?
      • As of the finale, the lead Butterfly claims pretty much exactly that. Whether they're telling the truth is not confirmed; it could have been an attempt to manipulate Peacemaker into switching sides.

Adebayo's leak won't take down Waller permanently
In Ostrander's Suicide Squad run, Waller was called to account by the Senate over the Squad's activities, but managed to send the Squad on a mission which improved its public image, and then resigned as the head of Task Force X (but continued to control the team from behind the scenes, with the new head being merely an actor). The second season will likely tackle the fallout of Adebayo's actions in the finale, and perhaps see Waller humbled a few more times, but in the comics, Waller seems to always return to a position of power in some way or another.

Peacemaker's hallucinations of Auggie Smith are actually due to his helmet
In the comics, Peacemaker believed his victims' souls were trapped inside his helmet and would speak to him, making him much more insane than this iteration. In the show, one aspect of Auggie Smith that is constantly downplayed is his intellect. He was able to create a pocket dimensional space for the helmets and White Dragon suit which he all invented too. So it wouldn't be too farfetched if one of the helmets was able to mess with Chris' neurological system or had implanted his consciousness to one of the helmets if Auggie were to ever die.

The Justice League where late because...
They were fighting another villain.

Auggie was planning on making a team of evil racist Avengers expies.
With himself as the Ironman expy. Guesses to other expies that Auggie would have added if he were still alive can be added here:
  • Auggie Smith/White Dragon himself= Ironman.
  • Storm Thor (who will look NOTHING like any Marvel version of Thor to avoid copyright problems)= Thor.
  • Frontwoman= Black Widow with the addition of superhuman strength and speed.
  • Keith Smith Clone Aged Up To 20/Peacemaker with strength-enhancing drug= Captain America.
  • American Doll= Wasp.
  • National Giant= Giantman.
  • RWB Monster= Hulk.
  • National Spider= Spider-Man.

There will be a sequel series after Peacemaker that focuses on Christopher Smith forming an anti-hero ersatz Avengers team, as a middle finger to Auggie Smith.
With himself as the Captain America expy. Guesses to other expies that Christopher would have recruited can be added here:
  • Christopher Smith/Peacemaker himself= Captain America.
  • Sergeant Metal= Iron Man.
  • American Zeus= Thor.
  • Rat Poison= Black Widow.
  • Patriot Statue= Giant Man.
  • Bee Lady= Wasp.
  • USA Behemoth= Hulk.
  • House Spider= Spider-Man.

Peacemaker will stay a Badass Normal.

Alternatively, Peacemaker will become an Empowered Badass Normal.

Eagly is Keith reincarnated.

The series finale will have Peacemaker, by Sonata Arctica playing over the credits
What other song would you use?

The Butterflies will become Canon Immigrants to the comics
Since Peacemaker has received critical acclaim, chances are DC cannot pass up an opportunity to pull a page out of their rival's book and consolidate their comics with elements from their most successful adaptations. They've already done so with Peacemaker himself by making him a Suicide Squad member when before he was totally independent of them.

Peacemaker will gain magical powers in a sequel series.
Via a new helmet that actually does have souls in it. More specifically, souls of fallen WWII American soldiers.

Somebody else will take the mantle of White Dragon, and a superhero fighting the new White Dragon will say "Hey look, it's racist bargin bin Iron Man!"
