The Failure Goddesses + Older Neptune are meant to be foils to the main CPUs
I mean, think about it.- Both of their leaders are purple haired, sword-wielding Genki Girls who are based on Sega (Neptune and Older Neptune)
- Sony and Panasonic are Japanese tech giants who have made products besides game consoles, and their goddesses often have blue as their secondary color (Noire and Reedio)
- Nintendo and Atari are veterans in the gaming industry in both sides of the pacific, and their goddesses are represented as normally cool-headed girls who are nonetheless just as out there as the other characters (Blanc and Jagaa)
- Microsoft and Apple are American tech giants who have made products besides game consoles note , and their goddesses are represented as being confident with themselves (Vert and Pippih)
While there are some comparisons to be made on a real world angle, characterwise Reedio, Jagaa, and Pippih are more comparable to Plutia, Compa, and IF rather than the main Goddesses.
- Reedio is a bit of a Ditzy Genius with a motherly streak and habit of subtle teasing, much like Plutia is a ditz with a motherly streak and habit of subtle teasing. Even their transformed states are comparable, being dual hair colored, both running purple with Iris Heart adding a touch of blue while Reedio has a touch of pink, with stripperific black armor. Reedio simply lacks Iris Heart's overtly sadistic streak.
- Jagaa tries to play up her intelligence, which in truth is largely limited to just being people smart rather than book smart, while Compa frequently shows signs of Obfuscating Stupidity. Both of them generally serve as The Heart of their groups.
- Pippih presents herself as the group's leader yet she lacks the confidence to put it into action leaving her to support the others while avoiding the spotlight, meanwhile IF generally acknowledges her expertise in working behind the scenes but finds herself pushed into leadership roles in the games that she plays a major role in due to the others not being able to step up and coordinate things. Both of them put forth a strong front, but quickly become blubbering messes when put outside of their comfort zones.
- Older Neptune being a foil to Neptune, however, is pretty much right. Given that they are, as always, just variants to the same person the main distinction continues to be Older Neptune's capacity for subtlety and manipulation compared to Neptune's super direct approach to her problems.
