Nashville is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Powers Boothe's character in The Avengers was Lamar Wyatt, and Agent May was either undercover as the head of Capitol Nashville or she has a twin sister that hasn't been mentioned yet for some reason (the same would apply to Skye and Hailey). This also means that Juliette Barnes is somehow related to Bucky.
  • Points For:

  • Points Against:
    • The Met Life building has been seen in episodes that take place after 2011.
    • Barack Obama is President on Nashville, while the MCU has Warren Ellis in said position.

Jeff Fordham is the father of Juliette's unborn child.
Juliette had (presumably) unsafe sex with Jeff Fordham back in the second season finale, and found out she's pregnant in the third season premiere. This means that Jeff could easily be the father, depending on how much time has passed in-universe during the show's summer hiatus. I'm not ruling out the possibility that Avery could be the father, but the writers could get more mileage out of it being Jeff.
  • They probably could, since in the second episode Juliette revealed it was four weeks since she and Dastardly Whi- er, Jeff had sex... but her pregnancy is eight weeks along, which coincides with the last time she and Avery slept together. So, yeah.

Rayna's father is Watty White, not Lamar.
I can't remember much of this, but I think they said Rayna's mother was having an affair. If it was with Watty, then it makes sense Lamar didn't like Rayna's interest in music and initially didn't support her - it reminds him of the man who cuckolded him. Then we have the echo in the second generation - Rayna's first child is also by a different father to her second, as in Deacon the musician, rather than Teddy the politician.
  • I don't know, Tandy appears to favor Watty more than Rayna does...

There's something in the water in Nashville...
That gives everyone musical talent but lowers their inhibitions. This would explain how nearly everyone has a great singing voice, but no-one seems able to be chaste after the second date!

Juliette's first single was named for either Kenny Chesney or Toby Keith.
Since Juliette seems to be a Jerkass Expy of Taylor Swift, it makes sense that their early careers would be similar.

"Weird Al" Yankovic will guest star at some point.
It's a show about musicians who've gone Platinum many times over. Admit it, people, this is inevitable.
