- Returning from Season 1: Sonya Blade, Jax, Kano, Cyrax, Sektor, and Baraka.
- Debuting: Kuai Liang, Smoke, Nightwolf (all as reinforcements for Raiden), Jade and/or Skarlet (to hunt down Kitana following the killing of Mileena and her subsequent defection), Reptile, Noob Saibot, and Goro (in the event that Raiden and his allies start winning)
- Caity Lotz will replace Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade. Casper Van Dien hinted at her future involvement with the series on his twitter feed, so...
Shang Tsung sent those killers after Liu Kang.
So, we know that Liu's girlfriends death was a major cause of his Start of Darkness, right? We also know that in their fight at a previous tournament, Liu took Shang's head. Furthermore, Shang is one evil dude. It all adds up, then, that Shang arranged for those criminals to attack the restaurant that Liu worked and to kill his girlfriend. Shang would then appear as a 'friend' of sorts and offer Liu twisted advice to send him down the path of evil to make him a villain so that Shang could use him in the next tournament.There will be DLC kostumes based on this series in Mortal Kombat X
Similar to the Arrow outfit from Injustice: Gods Among Us, they could replace the characters' regular VA with their Legacy actor when the kostume is used.
