WMG / Mastermind: Strategist for Hire

Go To

WARNING: Spoilers are unmarked.

Theories about the sequel are to be placed in its respective WMG page.

Bakugo will have his Quirk stolen by All For One.
  • Given Bakugo bullied him for a decade because he was Quirkless, its likely Izuku/Mastermind would consider seeing him rendered Quirkless to be just desserts.
    • Seemingly Jossed, as All For One was captured during the hideout raid in spite of All Might's death at the USJ.

Stain will try to kill Mastermind.
  • Its no secret Stain's a big fan of All Might; given Mastermind personally killed him during the USJ attack, its all but certain he wants him dead for murdering one of the very few people he considers a 'true hero'.
    • Confirmed: Stain attacks Mastermind when the two first meet in Chapter 16.

Todoroki will murder Endeavor.

Overhaul will expose Mastermind's secret identity.
  • Yes, Overhaul made a colossal mistake in angering Mastermind, but his choice to attack his mother shows he clearly knows Mastermind is Izuku Midoriya. Even if Mastermind brings him and his Yakuza down, what's to stop his true identity from being exposed?
    • Jossed: Overhaul is killed before he can leak the info.

Freezerburn/Shouto will be declared an S-Rank Villain.
  • Like his brother Dabi/Touya, considered an A-Rank Villain, he has his father's fire Quirk. Unlike his brother, however, he has his mother's ice Quirk to go with it, and as his fight against and eventual killing of Endeavor has shown, the two have an excellent synergy, which would lead to him being considered a much bigger threat.
    • Additionally, he debuted as a Villain by killing Endeavor, who was the Number One Hero at the time, which is going to make people think of him as a major threat right off the bat.

Hawks will not become a mole working within the League of Villains.

  • Whilst there would be a risk of backlash from the public, since they would have to be told the Number One Hero became a Villain, the risk may be considered worth it if it means Hawks could find out Mastermind's identity, allowing for him to be captured.
    • Confirmed.

Dragon is Hisashi Midoriya.
  • Giran notes that Dragon has a fire breathing Quirk, the same sort as Izuku's father, and Izuku has outright refused to do any business with Dragon despite the man being willing to pay his fees. All Giran knows is that Izuku has stated his reasons are personal. In all likelihood, Izuku still hates his father for abandoning him.
    • Confirmed in Chapter 34.

Izuku will kill his father, but it will lead the police to him.
  • Hisashi is a criminal who's decided to contact Mastermind despite being told the villain wants nothing to do with him. Given Izuku's bitterness over his father abandoning him, he'll likely kill the man when given the opportunity. However, if/when the police find about Hisashi's death, they'll naturally check to see if he has any surviving family. If they learn he has a Quirkless son named Izuku Midoriya, it'll basically confirm Mastermind's identity for them as they know the first two letters of both Izuku's first and last names and are fairly certain he's a Quirkless teenager.
    • Confirmed-ish: whilst his murder leads the police to him, Tsukauchi ultimately lets him go after some questioning.
      • Ultimately subverted as Tsukauchi remains suspicious of Izuku, with a different clue (Izuku leaving his villain notebook for his ignorant mother to find) confirming his identity.

The League of Villains will attack the Legacy Feeder Program.
  • The Legacy Feeder Program is the program which turned Hawks into a Tyke Bomb for the Commission; given he's become friends with the League since he infiltrated them, it seems safe to assume he would debut as a Villain by trying to bring the Program down.
    • Given the morally dubious nature of the Program, and the two previous major blows the Commission has taken (the death of All Might and Endeavor's abuse being exposed), the exposure of the Program, in combination with the current Number One Hero becoming a Villain, could potentially lead to the collapse of the Hero System.
    • Confirmed - not only do the League attack and destroy the Program, they also expose the Commission's corruption for all to see.
