- The Woman looks like an older version of daughter. Maybe all the embryos are clones.
- Mother asks at the end of the movie if the woman remembers her mother.
- This isn't WMG, it's literally one of the twists at the end of the movie.
Humanity was already doing itself in.
Mother saw what was happening and simply sped things up. It could have been a Mind Virus of some sort and humanity was killing themselves. Mother knew humanity needed a fresh start, so she let the humans kill each other down to a point and then made sure there were no surviving factions before letting Daughter take over. This would mean that Mother wasn't all bad. Coldly calculating, yes - but trying to do the right thing. She certainly preserved the great philosophers and made sure Daughter knew her history rather than throwing out the accumulated works of humanity... Mother didn't kill the previous daughters.
Accidents happen. Even a perfect super AI playing Xanatos Speed Chess can't be ready for EVERYTHING. Maybe "Failure /aborted" was due to a biological issue or the child wandered off unsupervised. That would certainly be "failure" in the AI's eyes. Daughter had a certain level of freedom through her life.
