Despite rumors claiming that she was killed by Crimson after the latter left him, there is no way she would’ve been murdered just after she left him.It is highly likely she is alive, presumably moved in another ring.
- But would she really just abandon her son like that after everything? Wouldn’t her leaving just give Crimson what he wants, raising Moxxie how he sees fit? It probably be better if she was genuinely dead as implied.

who notes that the imp in the boat didn't seem to be the Mother (based on male imp horns and tail patterns) but notes that the whole killing had a tinge of It's Personal for Crimson. This speculation suggests that the imp may have been a lover of Moxxie's Mother, either one she knew before her Loveless Marriage to Crimson or one that she met as a result of it. Note that this theory doesn't speculate whether Mother is still alive or not, just that the choice of that particular imp for Moxxie's Trial by Ordeal wasn't entirely random.- Alternatively, the imp was a male relative of Mother in some way (Father? Brother?). One that perhaps tried to whisk Moxxie and Mother away from Crimson and paid for it dearly. Notably, some viewers commented that the imp's muffled words sounded like "I love you," among other things, lending credence to the imp being someone who cared about Moxxie even if he wasn't the Mother.
