This will turn out to be an Everybody Knew Already situation—it's indicated that Frasier is a well-known celebrity, and in the Information Age, it would be far too easy to find out that he lived in Boston and had an ex-wife and son living there. They decided Freddy had his reasons for claiming his father was dead, and didn't challenge him on it, but notice how they pushed Frasier and Freddy together when Frasier showed up at the bar.
- It could also have been a nod to the Cheers episode where Frasier told the gang his parents were dead and had been scientists, an issue that was addressed on Frasier when Sam visited him in Seattle.
Freddy could understand Frasier moving to Seattle, since it was, "Your grandpa got shot and your dad's taking care of him." And Seattle was also Frasier's hometown. But Frasier moved to Chicago on a whim to be with a woman he didn't know all that well, causing Freddy to wonder what priority his dad put on their relationship.
- This could be true for Lilith. In "Guns 'N Neuroses", Lilith's final appearance on Frasier, she and Frasier got along very well and seemed to have finally resolved their differences, yet during Lilith's return in the revival, she and Frasier are back to sniping at each other. Frasier's move to Chicago, as mentioned above, could have made her resent him again.
Now that Frasier is back in Boston, it makes sense that at least a couple of his old Cheers buddies would come and visit him.
For example, Eve (a bartender aspiring to be an actress) could be a Like Mother, Like Daughter of Diane Chambers, a bartender aspiring to be a writer/dancer/playwright.
Even without Niles currently being physically present in the show the idea of Fraiser operating a theater along with the rest of the current cast might still be something they could explore. Eve is already an actress and Fraiser has already purchased an entire hotel building so a theater wouldn't be too far off especially given his existing interest. Maybe if this show gets additional seasons.
