Komorebi (named for the Japanese expression for the sunlight as it filters through the trees) is a Visual Novel by Klace, with a release date of July 27, 2023. The project began funding through Kickstarter in November 2021, alongside the release of a demo/Early Access version covering the entirety of Part 1.
Not to be confused with an ongoing ''My Hero Academia'' Fan Fic by Calamitatum.
Tropes Featured in the Demo Version:
- Anachronic Order: In the Demo, both "Pivotal" and "Supplemental" events can be seen completely out-of-order if the player chooses.
- Creator Cameo: In the Demo, one member of the main group of friends the player interacts with is Kyle Lambert's fursona Klace.
- "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: The Demo's Pop Album soundtrack consists entirely of original compositions by Klace himself.
- N.G.O. Superpower: The Demo mentions The Argus Corporation, an organization that watches over all of Earth's populace and is able to influence societal order.
- Seers: The Demo is set in a universe where nearly everyone on Earth can see visions of their own future, but are encouraged by The Argus Corporation to live in the moment instead of letting the visions dictate their lives.
- Spiritual Antithesis: To quote the game's Kickstarter pitch, "If Winds Of Change was a story about how one person with visions (The Seer) can change the world, Komorebi is a story about how a world of visions can change one person on an intimate, personal level."
- Story Branch Favoritism: The Kickstarter campaign's first update has a recommended guide to experiencing the Demo's events, including seeing "Supplemental 5" before "Supplemental 3", and "Pivotal 5" before "Pivotal 4". However, Klace (the developer, not the character) has stated that the game as a whole is meant to be experienced in whatever order the player prefers, adding Replay Value by recontextualizing some events with the knowledge from others.
