Hot Couture is one of the many stories under the Choices: Stories You Play collection. One of the first VIP books released in December 2019, and the first VIP book to be released generally, it was made available to everyone on December 16, 2020.
A young stylist faces many challenges in the fashion world after being hired by a large company in the field.
Hot Couture includes examples of:
- Alpha Bitch: Bridgette Gardner is rude and despicable with her subordinates and with Emma it was no different.
- Being Personal Isn't Professional: Marco holds this view and is initially reluctant to act on his feelings for Emma because of it.
- Big Bad Ensemble: Otto Thorndyke, Hazel's ex husband and Bridgette Gardner, ex CCO at Hazel Botique. After being fired by Hazel in Chapter 13 for assault and insubordination, Bridgette is hired by Otto becoming Creative Director of Tatin.
- Big "NO!": Upon learning that Emma has opened a fashion company, Otto tries to become her "partner" and gets a resounding no.
- The Cameo:
- Chris Winters and Josh Morello will join you if you choose to go to the VIP section in Chapter 6.
- Lancelin St. Claire is shown in the audience for Hazel Boutique's runway show in Milan in Chapter 9.
- Penelope Ebrim appears in Chapter 10 saying to Bridgette that she loves her collection and would like to collaborate on a similar collection for dogs.
- The Coup: Hazel is disconnected from the control of Hazel Boutique and in the following chapter, it is revealed that the company has been sold to Otto.
- Chekhov's Gunman: If Emma takes the time to make business connections back in Chapter 2, they'll help Emma's first fashion showcase in Chapter 13.
- Firemen Are Hot: Travis McKenzie was a fireman before he became a famous model.
- Gay Option: Luz Estrada, your college friend and business rep for HB.
- Hello, [Insert Name Here]: As with all Choices characters, you can name your character. The default name here is Emma Moore.
- Karma Houdini: Bridgette and Otto were not punished for their actions throughout the story.
- Lipstick Lesbian: Cleo is shown to have a crush on Bridgette and later another female model and if asked if she has any male model friends she states she has no patience for men implying she’s a lesbian and Travis is her only male friend.
- Older Than They Look: Emma notes Hazel looks really pretty for her age.
- Resign in Protest: After Bridgette takes credit for Emma's designs in the Milan show, Emma promptly quits to start her own fashion company.
- Romantic False Lead: Hazel Nguyen seemed to be a Love Interest throughout the story, and may even be flirted by the player until paying diamonds to kiss her in Chapter 15, she rejects Emma.
- Trophy Wife: In chapter 16, Hazel tells Emma that she was just part of Otto’s collection of cute objects while they were married.
