Directed by RailsRed and it's co-director EeveeTyler, Thomas' Railway Showdown is a fan-made crossover Game Mod of the Rhythm Game Friday Night Funkin', and fan-made works of the Thomas & Friends franchise.

Boyfriend and Girlfriend find themselves feeling nostalgic and decide to watch some good ol' classic Thomas episodes to pass the time. Unfortunately, the VHS has been possessed with a demon by Daddy Dearest, and the two are warped inside the video tape, where in order to escape... Boyfriend will need to best various haunted forms of Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends in rap battles!

It was officially released on April 22nd, 2023 to an extremely positive reception from the online Thomas fandom and let's-players alike. One of it's biggest draws is it's use of nostalgic and horror-related fan works produced by the Thomas fandom. The majority of the content present in the mod adapts a plethora of fan videos, including (but not limited to); Thomas The Tank Engine: The Untold Story, Ghost Train, TOMICA Thomas & Friends, Trains With Faces, Sodor Fallout, etc.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Modesty: Girlfriend wears a full blue conductor's uniform just like Boyfriend in the mod, in what is probably one of the most conservative outfits she's worn within the mod scene yet.
  • Advertised Extra: Despite being front and center on the cover alongside Boyfriend, Girlfriend only appears in about three songs in the entire mod; Number One, Ghost Train and Really Voidless Engine. For every other song, either Boyfriend goes it alone or someone else sings.
  • Art Shift: The song Originality is a complete wreck (intentionally of course), being poorly animated and aesthetically unpleasing in order to mimic how younger Thomas fans portray themselves on the internet.
  • Art Evolution: Due to being animated with digital artwork, Chav Thomas and Dave The Rubbish Bin are more lively and animated than they are in the original video; the fact they're able to look anywhere but straight down is an improvement in and of itself.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Several characters, and of varying styles; Void Thomas, Timothy, Strasburg Thomas (eventually, and unintentionally), and Deviant.exe, to name a few.
  • Expy:
    • The teased and upcoming Prince/King X is basically the Thomas version of the infamous Lord X, complete with goofy expressions (in teaser images, at least).
    • Deviant.exe is one long reference to Coldsteel and poorly made OCs in any fandom; he's a badly drawn recolour of Thomas, he's overly edgy, has bleeding black eyes and mentions having a DeviantART (where a lot of these OCs tend to reside) account. His song even takes place on a DeviantART page, the site's infamous Eclipse redesign included. His song is also a massive riff on "Personnel" from the cancelled "Vs Sonic.exe" updates.
  • Eye Scream: Strasburg Thomas's eyes eventually melt from his boiler being to close to his face; first the right eye, then the left, leaving him completely eyeless. Though, considering he is an inanimate train, he doesn't seem to mind.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Even with being based off of creepypasta characters, the mod is relatively light-hearted and even the darker characters are still devoid of actual horror. King X's teaser song, on the other hand, marks him as a genuine entity of horror; even the song titlecard is horribly corrupted and has eyes and teeth growing out of it.
