Choice and consequence on a scale never attempted before.

"Sleep fool child, and when you sleep, waken
And see the world that has been taken"

The Wayward Realms is an upcoming fantasy Western RPG by OnceLost Games. The studio was founded by Ted Peterson, Julian LeFay, and Vijay Lakshman who were the lead developers on the first games in The Elder Scrolls series — Arena and Daggerfall. The producers have explicitly called the game a Spiritual Successor to Daggerfall, including a massive game world and a "real role-playing experience" that harkens back to the days of 90s PC RPGs.

The game is set on "The Archipelago", a group of over one hundred realistically scaled islands where kingdoms and factions vie for power. Home to both classic fantasy races including humans, elves, dwarves, and orks as well as more "unusual" races, the player will vie for fame and fortune while a "Virtual Game Master" adjusts the plot based on your choices, ensuring that no two players will have the same experience.

Announced in 2019, The Wayward Realms was intially set for a 2021 release but was pushed back repeatedly into 2024, and an updated specific release date has not yet been given.

Two trailers have been released for the game:

The game has a website and a Steam page.

Tropes:
