The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day is a story-driven adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world, developed by ComonGames studio and released in 2016 for Steam.

The human race is extinct. They all died in the wasting wars. You play as an engineering robot, RT-217NP, who is curious about humans and doesn't recall his programmed purpose. He leads an ordinary, unassuming life, until one day, a shuttle crashes in his backyard.

The second episode Light at the End was released in late 2020. Here, rather than playing and continuing the story as RT-217NP, you instead get to play as Emily, a human that has managed to survive with a small group of other humans, despite living in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by robots.

Tropes:

  • 419 Scam: Even in the 22nd century, spam mails are still a profitable business model, as demonstrated by an email you find on F-2's home computer.
  • Abandoned Laboratory: One of your objectives is to locate and fix up an abandoned lab hidden in a mountain.
  • After the End: The story takes place in a future where humanity is extinct.
  • Almost Dead Guy: The pilot robot of the crash-landed shuttle lives long enough to give away the password for the on-board computer.
  • Beeping Computers: All electronic devices make sounds while being used.
  • The Big Board: There is a holographic board in Gregory's office used for strategic planning.
  • But Thou Must!: When asked if you want to join the renegades, you do not have the option to refuse. You can point this out by saying "I have to help" instead of "I want to help".
  • Button Mashing: Some problems have to be solved by this method, like trying to get rid of the handcuffs.
  • Concealing Canvas: F-2 has a safe deposit behind a painting in his apartment.
  • Cyber Cyclops: There are many examples of robots having one eye in this world, such as Gregory.
  • Dull Surprise: How RT and other robots respond to most events. Justified, as most robots were not designed to emote and it's implied they don't understand the point of emotions anyway.
  • Expositing the Masquerade: Mr. Exposition Gregory fills you in on what happened to the humans. Which is that humans are still alive and his La RĂ©sistance group has been sheltering them for some time.
  • Failed a Spot Check: F-2's safe containing the key to a human hideout was hidden behind a painting because robots (including the police) see no value in art and won't stop for a moment to thoroughly inspect it. Thankfully, RT is not like other robots.
  • Genius Cripple: Nick, an older android model and whizz with technology, has been unable to find replacements for his legs, leaving him bound to a wheelchair.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: It's heavily implied that robots are on this path, particularly those who are on Gregory's side.
    • Played with. Later on, it's revealed that the reason so few robots are helping humans is that a software update has made robots impassive or even hostile towards humans. This means that helping humans may just be the robots following their programming.
  • In-Series Nickname: RT-217NP always introduces himself by his full name, but the renegades only ever address him as RT.
  • Machine Monotone: All robots speak in a monotone voice.
    • Averted with Gregory and Abigail, who have much more natural-sounding voices. This makes sense since they were medical robots prior to human extinction. They used to interact with humans frequently and needed to sound as personable and non-threatening as possible.
  • MegaCorp: USS Robotics is the only known company to have produced robots prior to human extinction. They have since ceased but still release software patches and updates.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: Some title cards glitch, probably foreshadowing uncertain events.
  • Our Weapons Will Be Boxy in the Future: The police are armed with boxy guns.
  • Password Slot Machine: The puzzle for the password for F-2's safe has to be solved digit by digit.
  • Shout-Out: Episode 1 is filled with shout-outs.
    • You can find a revolver in a desk drawer. The associated achievement is a Star Wars reference.
    • You can find Clementine's hat in a dumpster.
    • There is a poster and a crowbar that reference Half-Life.
    • You can find a portal gun in the lab. You cannot interact with it though.
  • Single-Task Robot: Robots are humanoid and can technically carry out a variety of tasks, but they almost all were built with a specific purpose in mind. RT-217NP sticks out, as the only robot to have no known purpose.
  • Songs in the Key of Lock: The secret basement at The Core has to be unlocked with a signature melody.
  • Techno Wizard: Nick is notable for being really good with computers. More so than any other robot.
