Go To

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is a 2009 video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It is based on the The Lord of the Rings franchise, and uses footage from the movies.

In the good campaign, "War of the Ring", you have to defend various locations from the forces of Sauron. In the evil campaign, "Rise of Sauron", you play as the forces of Sauron and have to conquer Middle-Earth.

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest contains examples of the following tropes:

  • An Adventurer Is You: This game is a perfect example of this.
    • Tank- Mages at a range, or Warriors at close combat
    • Nuker- Mage
    • DPSer- Archer(range), Warrior(close combat), Scout(backstab)
    • Healer- Mage
    • Status Effect- Mage
    • Petmaster- the Mouth of Sauron (summons orcs instead of hitting people with his staff) and Aragorn (summons the Dead Men of Dunharrow instead of an AoE spinning slash).
  • Blood Magic: In the "Rise of Sauron" campaign, the player is required to kill twenty Orc traitors so their blood can be used in a dark ritual to resurrect the Witch-king of Angmar.
  • Flaming Sword: This game has warriors that can set their swords on fire.
  • Gang Up on the Human: Bosses will track you down, no matter what. Especially annoying is Saruman, who'll just stand around in his tower waiting for you to come up and get trampled, and maybe chase you for two feet.
  • What If?: This game has a campaign where you fight as the forces of evil, with the question: "What if Frodo failed to destroy the One Ring?" Answer: The world goes to hell.
