Sword & Fairy 6 is the 8th installment of the Sword and Fairy series of Chinese Role-Playing Games and the first one released in the United States. Developed by Softstar Entertainment and released for PC on November 11, 2017. A PlayStation 4 version published by EastAsiaSoft released on April 3, 2019.

Two amnesiac youths, Yue Jinzhao and Yue Qi, have been wandering the land in search of their identities and pasts, only for Qi to lose all of her money to a member of the Risen Soul Cult. In the process of trying to recover the lost money, they meet up with Luo Zhouyan, the head of the "Evanescent" Luo family who is spearheading efforts in his region to destroy the cult and expose its crimes. As the Yue siblings and Luo Zhaoyan join forces with each other and members of the True Martial Alliance: Ju Shifang, Ming Xiu, and her "uncle" Xian Qing, to root out the leaders of the cult while overcoming their personal demons and finding out about mysterious organizations operating in the shadows.

This game provides examples of:

  • Artificial Limb: Qe Gingfei's left arm is entirely mechanical.
  • Cool Old Guy: Lin Huan, the man who found Jinzhao and Qi in Wuyan Village and helped them get started on finding their pasts.
  • A Day in the Limelight: There are six DLC episodes that take place during various events during/before/after the main story. All six of the main characters get focus in one each.
  • Disc-One Final Dungeon: The main shrine of the Risen Soul cult. A major turning point in the plot and a strong catalyst for Character Development for all of Yue Jinzhao, Ju Shifang, and Ming Xiu.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Despite all of the sacrifice and hardship everyone endures to reach the end, The Stinger shows a scene at Jingan where Shifang has been reborn, Xiu has been living peacefully, Zhaoyan has found a way to prolong her life while traveling with Xian Qing- who has restored his human form. And, most of all, Jinzhao and Qi are both alive and traveling together- though everyone else has lost their memories of them.
  • Eyepatch of Power: Yue Jinzhao wears one to cover his left eye as it is able to see into the future... sort of.
  • Forced Transformation: Xian Qing will often shift between his human form and his white wolf form (usually for the purpose of spying using the latter).
  • Handicapped Badass: After going blind, Ming Xiu, with a little help from Xian Qing, remains as capable and effective as ever in battle.
  • Heroic BSoD: Yue Jinzhao falls into a big one after Lin Huan tells him how he lost his memories.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Several. Gu Hanjiang to stop the Risen Soul's self-destruct sequence. Bian Luohan to create Jinzhao and close the Stable Time Loop. Ju Shifang to inject Qi's blood into Shuo Xuan. Qi to revive Jinzhao. And Ying Xuwei to revive Qi.
  • Interface Spoiler: One of the most blatant hints to Zhouyan's true gender early on is one of the loading screens showing her post-reveal self.
  • Love at First Sight: Ju Shifang falls for Shuo Xuan right away, despite her hating his guts and wanting him to gouge his eyes out for accidentally seeing her bathing. He gets over it after realizing their paths are too different.
  • MacGuffin Delivery Service: A rare instance where the player characters aren't used for this. Instead, the Risen Soul cult was used to distribute Soul Orbs across the land before it's destroyed by Ying Xuwei.
  • My Greatest Failure: Both Jinzhao and Shifang's happen at the Risen Soul Saints's main shrine. Jinzhao second-guessing himself leads to several True Martial Alliance members dying in a trap while Shifang's hesitation to use Beancurd for a dangerous mission indirectly leads to Ju Hanjiang's death when he goes instead.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: The Piscis tribe resembles a combination of human and seahorse.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Qili Xiaoyuan dual-wields a pair of Chinese maces that are larger and likely heavier than she is.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Played straight and inverted with the Luo siblings as the game barely hides the fact that Zhouyan is a woman and Maiming is a man. The characters have various reactions when they find out as most of them had already figured it out ahead of time anyway.
  • Stable Time Loop: The party travels three years into the past to steal Qi from Worlds Core and for Bian Luohan to sacrifice his existence to create Jinzhao at Longtan.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Every faction that isn't the Risen Soul Saints or the True Martial Alliance. Luo Maiming wants to break the curse of Rehai on the Luo family. Zhu Yu wants to preserve the Piscis race. Ying Xuwei wants to prevent Zhu Yu from destroying the Six Worlds.
  • Worth It: A common response from a character after they had paid a great price to help the team move closer to victory: Gu Hanjiang after his Heroic Sacrifice and Ming Xiu after losing her eyesight to see the future at Wugou.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Part of Xian Qing's Character Development as, despite claiming to be a demon who is not ruled by his emotions, shows strong paternal love for Ming Xiu after having helped raise her while also falling in romantic love with Zhaoyan.
  • You No Take Candle: Qi's manner of speech during her first few months with Jinzhao. Justified in that she was literally just learning how to talk due to being kept in stasis her whole life until then.
