Shin'yaku: Touhou Gensosatsunote ~ Re.Phantasmagoria Of Imagine Breaker is a fanmade Shoot 'Em Up PC game written in Danmakufu by Gore, released in full on 31 December 2014. The game is a crossover with the long-running A Certain Magical Index series.
As the title suggests, this game is a remake of one of the creator's early works, Touhou Gensousatsu: Phantasmagoria of Imagine Breaker. The original was released in 2012 and seems to be taken down around the time the remake was created. Since then, the original has been made unavailable to the public.
Despite the subtitle, the gameplay is not like Touhou Yumejikuu ~ Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream or Touhou Kaeidzuka ~ Phantasmagoria of Flower View. Instead, Touhou Gensosatsu is a conventional title that appears to be inspired by Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom, both mechanically and aesthetically.
The game is an Original Flavor crossover that follows the ordeals of Gensokyo's local incident resolver specialists (Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, Sakuya Izayoi and Sanae Kochiya), as they resolve the incident with a human partner who was transported to Gensokyo from the Outside World (specifically Academy City) while also working to escort them back to their original world. Meanwhile, the Outsiders assisting the heroines in their conquests consist of Touma Kamijou (Reimu's partner), Mikoto Misaka (Marisa's partner), Kuroko Shirai (Sakuya's partner) and Ruiko Saten (Sanae's partner).
The player can choose one of the Gensokyo heroines available, each will take one of these "Outsiders" as their partners. Each team has their own advantages and disadvantages compared to other teams.
- Anti-Magic: Touma Kamijou contains the Imagine Breaker ability in his right hand, which he can use to clear danmaku on-screen.
- I Just Want to Be Special: Unlike the other three "Outsiders" who were transported to Gensokyo without their consent, Saten intentionally chased an Urban Legend, believing that Gensokyo could make her ability level rise. Poor girl, being desperate enough to cling onto flimsy rumors just to keep her hopes and dreams. Luckily, she managed to find Gensokyo and befriend Sanae.
- Odd Friendship:
- In Team Imagine's route, it is implied that Indexnote forms some sort of friendship with the Buddhist monk Byakuren, despite there being more "normal" people in Gensokyo such as Akyuu or Keine. According to Index, she got lost in the forest (this could refer to either the Great Youkai Forest or Forest of Magic) after suddenly getting transported to Gensokyo and Byakuren was the one who helped her. Her monologue also implies that she is looking for Nue before crossing paths with Reimu and Touma.
- Team Miraculous consists of Sanae Kochiya, the shrine maiden/living god of the Moriya Shrine and Ruiko Saten who cannot shoot danmaku without using a proper device. Sanae has been longing for a Muggle Best Friend since everyone who comes to the mountain has some sort of superpower one way or another. Saten, on the other hand, believes in miracles and easily gets along with anyone.
- Shock and Awe: Mikoto and Misaka 10032 (and Last Order, to a certain extent) have this power and use it for their danmaku.
- Urban Legend: Ruiko Saten is fond of these. In fact, this is the sole reason behind her arrival in Gensokyo.
