A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do.

Rugrats: Search for Reptar is a video game based on Rugrats, released for the PlayStation in 1998. This game was published by THQ and developed by n-Space.

Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil want to complete their Reptar puzzle, but all the pieces aside from one are missing and they have to explore the house to find the remaining puzzle pieces.

The gameplay is a 3D collect-a-thon. The goal of the game is to help the babies regain the puzzles pieces by playing levels that are throughout Tommy's house. Most of the levels are based on existing episodes from the show, though they're slightly tweaked to fit with the gameplay.

This game provides examples of:

  • Adapted Out:
    • "Mirrorland" had Tommy and Chuckie going through Mirrorland. Tommy is the only one that goes through in the level.
    • "The Mysterious Mr. Friend" had Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil dealing with the robots in the backyard. But the level just only has Tommy facing them in Stu's workshop.
    • "Toy Palace" had Stu and Chas take Tommy and Chuckie to the said store. Due to Chas not appearing in the game, only Stu takes them in the level.
    • "Touchdown Tommy" had Stu, Grandpa Lou, Chas, Drew and Howard watch the Ultra Bowl. Due to the latter three not appearing in the game, only Stu and Lou watch it in the bonus level.
  • Adaptational Alternate Ending: The ending of "Visitors from Outer Space" is different from the original episode. In the episode, the babies almost crashed into the sun until they woke up it was a dream, though it's a bit iffy as they show Angelica on the deserted planet. The game has Angelica getting to the garage after going through the air ducts, but the babies leave her behind in one of the space crafts.
  • Circus Episode: "Circus Angelicus" based on the episode deals with Angelica putting on a circus.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: If the milk in your life meter is gone, it'll just have the toddlers cry (or in Angelica's case, just growling) and you can still keep going.
  • Demoted to Extra: Soblito Festeriks/George from the episode "Visitors from Outer Space" has a much less important role in the level based on said episode. Unlike the original where he dumps Angelica to a random plant after escaping the aliens, he simply just leaves Angelica after letting him free.
  • Gainax Ending: The last level, Reptar 2010, sees Reptar rampaging his way towards City Hall and when he reaches his final destination, he...dances. Justified as it's a dream Tommy has.
  • Gotta Catch Them All: The goal of the game is to find pieces of the Reptar puzzle.
  • Gravity Screw:
    • "Mirrorland" has Tommy going through his house upside down after going through his mom's mirror.
    • "Visitors from Outer Space" has Angelica in anti-gravity after Soblito Festeriks/George pressed the button.
  • Life Meter: Your life bar is depicted as a bottle.
  • Pie in the Face: During the level "Incident In Aisle Seven", Tommy has to throw pies at Larry and Steve after he reaches to the top shelves.
  • Real After All: Unlike the episode "Mirrorland" where it's just Tommy and Chuckie going through the mirror and thinking they went into another dimension, the level it's based after shows that Mirrorland is real.
