Video Game / Resident Evil: REVisited

Go To

On May 11, 1998, the Tyrant Virus escaped containment at Umbrella Inc.'s Arklay Research Facility. Virtually overnight, all staff were infected, and staff alerted Umbrella Headquarters accordingly. However, communications fell silent before they could follow orders to transfer backup data to the main Umbrella office. Several months later, S.T.A.R.S. would eventually discover the Spencer Mansion and its dark secrets for themselves.

But two months passed between the initial outbreak and S.T.A.R.S.'s arrival, and Umbrella did not sit idly by. They instead dispatched one of their agents, Trent, to assess the fate of the Mansion Lab's staff and recover Umbrella's research data while they still could. However, Trent ultimately finds himself entering the world of Survival Horror, and dealing with more than he bargained for.

Resident Evil: REVisited is a Total Conversion Mod of Resident Evil 2 and a Fan Game prequel to the very first game in the series. It was made by 3lric and Andrew Coyte (though it is only available as a demo at the time of this page's creation).

Resident Evil: RE Visited contains the following tropes:

  • Almighty Janitor: Mickey, the motel concierge, who provides Trent the key to his bedroom. He's the only person at the Motel who isn't infected and seems unperturbed, possibly even unaware, of the infection spreading to his workplace.
  • The Cameo: Several unique zombies encountered in-game are modeled after other notable zombies in fiction, including Frank, Bub, Johnny, Steve Marcus, and Tar Man.
  • Canon Welding: In addition to making Trent, a Canon Foreigner from the novels the Player Character, several rooms that only existed in Resident Evil (Remake) are added to the layout of what is otherwise the original version of The Spencer Mansion.
  • Cat Scare: When you first enter the bar, you hear moans and vomiting sounds, implying the presence of zombies...only to travel further into the room and find two drunk but human patrons sitting at the bar and a third patron puking up his guts in the toilet in the back. They become zombies for real after you encounter the Alice zombie.
  • Easter Egg: In one room, you can see a clip of Night of The Living Dead playing on a TV set. Trying to leave the room after watching it has you run into a black and white zombie in the loading screen.
  • Hell Hotel: The first act takes place at a motel (with an adjoining gas station and bar) that hides a secret route to the Spencer Lab. Unfortunately, the T-Virus escaped from the mansion and infected most of the personnel and unwitting guests.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: The Johnny zombie is conspicuously grayscale compared to the other zombies seen in the very colorful environment.
  • Shout-Out:
    • At the very end of the demo, when the game cuts off with Trent being attacked by The Yawn, a remixed version of Roundabout plays as the game fades to black.
    • The correct order of commands to successfully use the lockpick to get the crowbar is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.
    • One of the patrons at the Gene & Roy's Restaurant mutters the names of other Capcom franchises.
