Tropes:

  • Adapted Out: Girlfriend is completely absent from this mod, meaning Boyfriend is alone in facing these different versions of Mario.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: According to its profile in The Booklet, Copyright Mario is an A.I. created by Nintendo for the purpose of apprehending hackers and anyone else owning/distributing unlicensed Nintendo games. However, it's stated to have "gotten out of control" and "have some victims", implying that it has dealt with bootleggers by killing them, which is not what Nintendo intended.
  • And I Must Scream: Tormented Mario. He went down the wrong warp pipe, and now he's trapped within a single block with no way out. Upon closer inspection of the hole in his cap, he also appears to be balding, meaning he's likely been trapped for decades.
  • All There in the Manual: The Booklet, accessible from the Main Menu, explains the mod's story and gives info on the opponents feautured within.
  • Art Shift: Partway into "Hammertime", the scenery shifts into an 8-bit pixel style emulating Donkey Kong, with Jump.ERR and Boyfriend becoming 8-bit as well.
  • Clothing Damage: Tormented Mario has noticeable rips in his shirt and cap, most likely as a result of the time he's spent trapped within the block.
  • Hidden Eyes: Tormented Mario, Jump.ERR and Copyrighted Mario all have shadows covering their eyes. Out of the three of them, Jump.ERR's eyes are the only ones to always be hidden, as Tormented Mario's right eye can be seen in his up pose while Copyrighted Mario's eye visibly glow red through the shadow.
  • Non-Standard Character Design:
    • Copyrighted Mario is rendered in 3D Nintendo 64-styled graphics.
    • Dancing Guy is rendered in a pixel artstyle, along with everything else in "Camera".
  • One-Winged Angel: After the first few seconds of "Ablaze", Inferno Plumber jumps into the painting of Bob-omb Battlefield, and partially emerges from it in his true form, in which he's much bigger and engulfed in flames.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Jump.ERR is a version of Mario who had to serve in the army and go to war, and his time in said war left him traumatized with a severe case of PTSD. Still affected by the trauma he experienced, Jump.ERR attacks anyone he believes to be working for the Kong Mafia, unaware that he may be harming innocents.
  • Uncertain Doom: The version of Princess Peach in Victim Mario's story has vanished, and he has no idea where she went. This is only mentioned in The Booklet, and doesn't come into play in Victim Mario's song.
