Idle Chop is an Idle Game made in Adobe Flash by Ciocatzel released in 2014. In it, you play as a lumberjack and chop down plants (mostly trees, but there are flowers). Each plant gives money for upgrades and has a chance to drop Tree Essence. If you have money and Tree Essence, you can try to craft a better axe.

This game provides examples of:

  • Autosave: The game saves automatically every 30 seconds.
  • Damage Reduction: Plants have a defense stat that goes up with each new one. The stat's number determines how much damage is ignored from each hit, and if it's high enough, it becomes impossible to idle through the ore or even progress at all.
  • Final Boss: The Tree of Life is the last plant you get to chop down. Later plants are just Tree of Life at a higher level.
  • Game-Breaking Bug: Clicking "Continue" when there's no save file results in you being unable to deal any damage or buy any upgrades, making resetting the game the only option.
  • Money Sink: The properties are considered a good way to waste money by the game, as you can buy them and their costs go up quickly, but they don't do anything.
  • Non-Indicative Name: The Tree of Life. Its evil expression, color palette, and what seem to be flames ignited on parts of it make it look like anything but.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: No plot is presented anywhere. Just chop trees.
  • No-Sell: Strong enough ores will take no damage from your axe if their defense is higher than your power.
  • Not-Actually-Cosmetic Award: Every achievement is supposed to increase click damage and money earned by 10%.
  • Obviously Evil: The Evil Stumps. Aside from the game saying they're evil, they're typically darker than other trees and have a typical villainous facial expression.
  • Palette Swap: Many plants are just differently colored variations of other ones, usually in a line of them. For instance, the Aloe line has Green Aloe, Blue Aloe, Yellow Aloe, Red Aloe, and Pink Aloe.
