Go-Go! Nekketsu Hockey Club Slip-and-Slide Madness, originally released as Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey Bu: Subette Koronde Dai Rantō, is a sports spinoff in the Kunio-kun series. It first released on the Famicom in 1992 in Japan, but was one of numerous Kunio-kun games that didn't see an international release until 2020's Double Dragon & Kunio-kun Retro Brawler Bundle.

Fresh off of his soccer and dodgeball adventures, Kunio learns that Nekketsu High's ice hockey club will be disbanded if they fail to defeat Shirogane High School in their next game. Kunio decides to whip the struggling hockey team into shape, bringing in various school clubs to train against before facing off against Shirogane High and eventually aiming for the National Championship.

Go-Go! Nekketsu Hockey Club Slip-and-Slide Madness contains examples of:

  • A.I. Breaker: At least half of the game can be cleared by skating below the box meant to represent the goalie's crease and shooting upward. The goalies play so far out of the net that it almost always gets past them. Later goalies play closer to the net, avoiding this problem.
  • All or Nothing: There is no overtime in this game; being tied after the third period is treated as a loss.
  • Artistic License – Sports:
    • Like the Kunio-kun soccer games, there is no offside.
    • Punching people will get you put into the penalty box, which for the most part is realistic. Kicking at people with your extremely dangerous skate blade? Nets you the same kind of penalty as punching. Swinging your stick like an axe? Core mechanic with no penalties attached.
    • In real hockey, goalies are the most protected players on the ice, and any kind of avoidable contact with them is grounds for a penalty. Here, players are free to wail on goalies at their leisure.
    • In real hockey, a minor penalty puts the player out of the game for two minutes, with that time carrying over if the period ends before the penalty expires. Here, penalties last until a goal is scored or the period ends.
    • Hanazono High's rink has bouncy walls, while Tanibana High's rink has landmines.
    • Most teams don't wear helmets, in an effort to keep them visually distinct. The fact that Daisetsuzan High does wear helmets lets the player know that they're serious business.
  • Challenge Run: A specific password forces the player to play the entire game as the starting Dodgeball Club, who aside from Kunio are equipped with the generic Power Shot.
  • Clothes Make the Superman: The player's stats are determined by the uniform that the Nekketsu High Hockey Club wears, with the selection of uniforms increasing as the player advances.
  • Gretzky Has the Ball: The opponents in the early game include Nekketsu High's Kendo and Baseball Clubs (who respectively use bamboo sticks and baseball bats in place of hockey sticks), Riki's American Football team (who are dressed in football pads), and Godai's Roller Skating team.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Hit a player enough times and they will become angry and their normal defensive options (body-checking and tripping/slashing the opponent) will change to traditional Kunio-kun punches and kicks. Connect with those one too many times, and the character will be thrown into the penalty box until the opponent scores a goal.
  • Signature Move: Almost every team (the Kendo Club being the major exception) has a Special Shot that the majority of its members specialize in. Each member of the Nekketsu Hockey Club also has their own unique shot.
  • Songs in the Key of Panic: The normal match BGM is replaced with a frantic, stressful theme if the player is not leading in the 3rd period.
  • Warmup Boss: The first match, where Nekketsu's Dodgeball Team faces off against the Hockey Club, is intentionally designed to be a Curb-Stomp Battle in the player's favor, both to get them accustomed to the controls and to reinforce the notion that the Hockey Club is completely pathetic. If one knows how to exploit the goalie AI, it's possible to burn them for a whopping 30 goals in a single period.
  • Your Princess Is in Another Castle!: After Shirogane is defeated, the next cutscene states that the Hockey Club is still under threat of being disbanded, only this time they are expected to win the national championship.
