"Would the real Chris use a fake guitar?"
FNF: SingStar Challenge is a Game Mod of the indie Rhythm Game Friday Night Funkin' made by Binejyeah, Zibidi and Simply EJ, and is a crossover mod based on the SingStar Challenge videos of Sonichu creator Christine Weston Chandler (hereafter referred to as Solid Chris) and Liquid Chris, a particularly famous Internet Troll and convincing Doppelganger who challenged Solid to a singing contest to find out which Chris was worthy of being the real Christian Weston Chandler.

The mod is available for download on GameBanana. An update for the mod that adds Liquid Chris as a playable character is planned.

Song List

Story

  1. Virgin Rage (Solid Chris vs. Liquid Chris)

Bonus

  1. chvlc (Solid Chris vs. Liquid Chris)

Upcoming

  1. Pickled (Solid Chris vs. the Man in the Pickle Suit & Liquid Chris)

Examples from the mod:

  • Adapted Out: Boyfriend and Girlfriend make no appearance here. The former is replaced by Solid Chris, while the latter is replaced by Liquid's girlfriend, Kacey Devoria.
  • Always Someone Better: The entirety of Virgin Rage is just Liquid being this to Solid, being an infinitely better singer and guitarist.
  • Asset Actor: The Man in the Pickle Suit bears a surprising resemblance to the Henchmen in the base game.
  • Big Word Shout: After Liquid steals the guitar section's show with some truly impressive shredding, Solid tries to regain control by shouting "STOP!" at full volume; this does make Liquid stop and sigh... for a few seconds, then he's back to rocking out!
  • Bishie Sparkles: Liquid has them on most of his animations, to better showcase how good-looking he is in comparison to Chris.
  • Duels Decide Everything: Explicitly averted; regardless of how well you do at "Virgin Rage", Liquid will win regardless, in keeping with the results of the challenge in reality.
  • Epic Rocking: A sizeable portion of the second act of "Virgin Rage" has Solid and Liquid duke it out using their guitars; While Solid uses his Guitar Hero guitar to play some MIDI music, Liquid takes the dial up a notch by being able to use his acoustic guitar like an electric guitar, and he can shred like no one else!
  • Gonk: Solid Chris is portrayed as a short, ugly gremlin with no visible nose whose total visible fingers vary. Meanwhile, Liquid Chris is drawn as tall and handsome with more realistic proportions.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: Solid, whether you finish the song or lose all your HP, will always lose against Liquid.
  • It Works Better with Bullets: The main gimmick of "Pickled" has the Man in the Pickle Suit chucking pickles at Solid, who has to shoot them to avoid losing HP. This ends up working against him, as when he Rage Quits at the end of the song and tries to use his Megatron pistol to shoot Liquid and the Pickle Man, he has no more bullets to use.
  • Mythology Gag: With this being a Sonichu fan work, an abundance of references are par for the course:
    • Girlfriend is replaced by Kacey Devoria, Liquid's girlfriend and the target of Solid's affections, being one of the reasons why he devised the contest in the first place.
    • In his rage state, Solid's medallion gains bright orange-red eyes and an angry expression; this is most likely a reference to a modified medallion Solid made out of frustration that a buyer who had still been waiting for his to be made complained about Solid's procrastination and raised a complaint with eBay.
    • Surfshack Tito, Clyde Cash, Alec Benson Leary and the Man in the Pickle Suit are all visible in the audience.
    • On either side of the stage stand two Christorical relics; Solid's Sonic Totem on the right, and Liquid's handmade Sonichu plush on the left.
    • While Liquid uses the same acoustic guitar he had during his rendition of "So Need A Cute Girlfriend" during the guitar section, Solid brandishes one of his many customized Guitar Hero controllers, dubbed the 'Gitar of Fail'.
    • The upcoming song "Pickled" features Liquid Chris with noticeable bullet wounds to his shins - a reference to a comic Chris made where he shot Liquid - tied up inside a warehouse, which is a reference to a video he made where he pretended to have been kidnapped and subjected to torture by Chris. Meanwhile, Chris carries his Megatron pistol with him throughout the song, the same weapon which he presumably used to shoot Liquid beforehand.
  • Oh, Crap!: During Liquid's epic guitar solo, Solid has what can only be described as a look of absolute despair on his face. Liquid and Kacey also get briefly startled after Solid loses his temper and breaks his guitar, but they're quickly back to normal after remembering who they're dealing with.
  • Perspective Flip: The game has one play as the antagonist of a regular FNF level. This is shown by how Solid goes first, Liquid gets the harder parts, Solid has voice lines mid song and a second phase similar to a transformation near the end of it. And he is doomed to always fail.
  • Potty Failure: Losing and choosing to continue has Solid crap himself.
  • Turns Red: After the guitar segment, Solid gets incredibly angry, literally turning red in the face and increasing the complexity of his side of the song. It doesn't do anything to sway Liquid from continuing to take the lead.
  • Villain Protagonist: By default the mod has Solid play in the place of Boyfriend, yet has all the characteristics of a traditional FNF opponent.
