Your pet in YOUR world!
EyePet is an Augmented Reality Virtual Pet video game developed by London Studio and Playlogic Game Factory and released in Japan on October 23, 2009 for PlayStation 3 with an updated version that included PlayStation Move support releasing worldwide on September 5, 2010. The game makes use of the PlayStation Eye camera to add an image of a virtual pet to the real world as seen by the camera. The creature on screen is fully aware of its environment and can interact with various objects including objects drawn by the player with the PlayStation Move controller.

The game contains the following tropes:

  • Augmented Reality: The creature on screen is rendered into the image that is captured by the PlayStation Eye Camera. The players can also draw objects on the screen which then become real objects added to the virtual image.
  • Casual Video Game: It's a Virtual Pet game with no real goal, just the ability to play with a computer-generated creature that gets cast into the real world.
  • Character Customization: The player has the ability to change the color of the creature's fur as well as to dress it in various items.
  • Tech-Demo Game: Developed to show the Augmented Reality capabilities of the PlayStation Eye Camera.
  • The Power of Creation: In the Move-enhanced version, the player can draw pictures on the screen which immediately become on-screen objects the creature can interact with.
  • Updated Re Release: The Move-enhanced version released on September 5, 2010 in North America added support for the PlayStation Move controller which could be used to draw on-screen objects. This version would later be released in Japan and Europe under the name EyePet Move Edition.
  • Virtual Pet: This one in particular uses Augmented Reality to exist in the real world.
