Daffy Duck: Fowl Play is a 1999 Looney Tunes Platform Game by Sunsoft, released for the Game Boy Color.

Daffy is on the hunt for treasure with hopes to get filthy stinking rich. In this game, you guide Daffy through six different stages with the goal of reaching the treasure chest in each level, but it won't be easy. He has to run and jump to avoid obstacles and other tricky traps and hazards, and if that wasn't tough enough, Bugs Bunny awaits Daffy as a boss at the end of each round, looking to trip up Daffy with his own rascally tricks.

Fowl Play boasts very impressive colors and sprite animation for a Game Boy Color game, with Daffy and other characters being highly recognizable and lively, while the stage clear sequence is quite an amazing spectacle.

Daffy Duck: Fowl Play contains examples of:

  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: The game treats its lives system very differently. Daffy loses a "life" whenever he gets hit but he is knocked out temporarily if he has any lives left and can continue on. He can gather his "life" back (In the form of a heart) if he collects it in time if it didn't fall into a pit.
  • Down on the Farm: The first level is the Country, which takes place at a countryside farm. Daffy has to avoid angry guard dogs who will try to punch him and dangerous obstacles like rakes.
  • Excuse Plot: Daffy embarks on a treasure hunt.
  • Greed: Daffy's chief motivation, as you may expect from the guy.
  • Green Hill Zone: The first half of the Lakeside (Stage 2) takes place in a pristine lakeside overlooking some hills and mountains.
  • I Fell for Hours: In The Lakeside, Daffy dives down a cliff into the Lake, the player has to guide him to the left and right as he is falling to dodge and weave obstacles and platforms to reach the water.
  • Level Goal: A large red treasure chest appears at the end of each level, which is guarded by Bugs.
  • Rake Take: In the Country level, stepping over a rake knocks Daffy out.
  • Recurring Boss: Bugs appears as a boss at the end of each round trying to stop Daffy for reaching the treasure, pulling out a new attacking gimmick each time. Daffy has to reach the Treasure Chest to win the battle.
  • That's All, Folks!: In true Looney Tunes fashion, this appears you get a Game Over when Daffy gets hit and he doesn't have any "lives" (hearts) left. You get a screen with a dazed Daffy next to a smug-looking Bugs.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode: Daffy quests through six different levels in hopes of gathering treasure getting rich.
  • Under the Sea: The third part of The Lakeside has Daffy underwater where he has to dodge duck-eating fish and jellyfish.
