* Retraux: Retro Mode. Go to options, turn down the resolution completely, then go to the hot-key change menu. There should be a picture of Vella and Shay, click on it, assign a button, then go to the game and press the assigned button for sweet, sweet pixels. For the UsefulNotes/PlayStation4 version, just press R3 (Push the right stick) to toggle.

* IHaveThisFriend: Upon reaching Meriloft, Vella can describe her escape from Mog Chothra as something "a friend" did. Walt'r and Ch't are appalled, and hope this "friend" gets punished appropriately.

trope is renamed Prefers Going Barefoot. Dewicking old name

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Vella, and possiblyMany have their feet obscured by their dresses, so it's debatable every female character in her world, except the ones in Meriloft who have to wear cloudshoes.

** Vella's people were once proud warriors who'd fight the Mogs, but now they're mostly known for their baking. So, it makes sense that her full name is "Velouria Beastender Tartine".

Tastes Like Diabetes is no longer a trope. Moving examples to other tropes when applicable.

* TastesLikeDiabetes: In-universe, Shay regards the various missions that Mom prepares for him this way.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: One of the puzzles involves getting the talking tree to laugh at a joke.
* AdultsAreUseless: Pretty much completely. The adults are easily hoodwinked by authority, afraid of change, and quick to dismiss the legitimate concerns of the young. In fact, several puzzles involve thwarting adult control or distracting adults so the young protagonists can do what really needs to be done.
** In act II, some of the adults aren't useless so much as in charge of the boring, grindy parts of the plan. Shay's mother in particular sits in her control room monitoring Marek while Vella goes around organizing their escape plan, which was a good call because one of Vella's actions would have immediately alerted Marek, had Hope not realized it and stalled the execution of that action.
