Bloody Bastards is a free mobile 2D physics-based medieval weapons fighting game developed by husband and wife duo Tibith. Released January 22nd, you play as a customizable warrior wandering from country to country fighting many other warriors to bloody duels to the death, unlocking the nation's unique weapons and armor as you progress. So far the nations are Medieval Britain, the Holy Roman Empire, Tsarist Russia, and most recently Sengoku Japan. The game features both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer feature, where one can participate in a rank-based system with more equipment and armor to unlock as you gain higher ranks.

Bloody Bastards provides examples of the following tropes:

  • A.K.A.-47: An odd melee weapons variant of the trope. Despite all the unique weapons from around the world having their own names, they are referred to as the type of weapon they are in simple terms, like the Holy Roman Empire's Zweihander being simply named a greatsword. It's quite egregious in the Japan chapter where weapons like the Katana, Nodachi, Kanabo and even the Kusarigama being named "Sword"/"Greatsword"/"Club"/"Sickle and flail" respectively.
  • Allegedly Free Game: Averted. Everything in the game is accessible for free with some effort, the in-game gold is not purchasable and the only microtransaction in the game is to disable ads.
  • An Arm and a Leg: All four limbs are susceptible to being damaged enough to stop working. An injured arm results in the equipment held in the arms dropping and be unusable for the rest of the fight, an injured leg results in the victim unable to kick and can only crawl around at an awkward and slow pace. With bludgeoned weapons, the limbs will simply stop working if damaged enough, but with bladed weapons, there's a chance the limb will be outright lopped off and the victim will continuously lose health from the rapid blood loss.
  • Captain Ersatz: The boss of level 400 of Sengoku Japan is a one-eyed, shirtless, and open jacket-wearing spearman named Guru Mojimo. He's actually based on a user from the game's official Discord named after the real character and the boss is just a tribute to the user without any prior knowledge of the source material, hence why Mojimo uses a spear instead of his inspiration's signature knife use.
  • Microtransactions: There is only one microtransaction in the game, one that disables advertisements and doubles the gold earned after a duel.
  • Off with His Head!: Get enough hits to the head with a bladed weapon and the fight will instantly end with the head flying or dropping off the loser's shoulders.
  • Oh, Crap!: The single-player AI will fight as long as they have a working arm, but if both arms are injured the AI will quickly run backward until its back hits the wall as if it wanted to escape the duel.
  • Scratch Damage: Shield bashing and the recent kick mechanic deal pitiful damage but the latter can be done in fast succession and the damage will rack up quickly, although it cannot kill by itself.
