Go To

Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney: Locks on the Heart is a fangame of the Ace Attorney series, created by Ash Simonian (a.k.a. the.armenator).

Several months after Spirit of Justice, Athena flies to the Kingdom of Khura'in to assist her co-worker, Apollo Justice, in reforming its legal system, and in resolving all of the cases in which an unjust verdict was given as a result of said system. Athena takes on an interesting case upon her return, in which a murder has taken place at an online video convention; and her close friend, Nina Phan, is taken in for the crime.'

More info on the game can be found here. A demo of the first case, "Rendezvous at the Turnabout", can be played in Ace Attorney Online here.

Locks on the Heart contains examples of:

  • Better Manhandle the Murder Weapon: One of the reasons Nina is indicted is because her fingerprints are on the murder weapon. She claims this is due to her picking it up after discovering the victims' bodies.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The demo uses sprites — both from the original games and from fan-characters — as placeholders. A few of Blackquill's sprites aren't exactly the best either...
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Blackquill reacts to the "evidence theory" joke (see Shout-Out below) with a glare.
  • Literal-Minded: Nina has a moment of this before the trial.
Athena: Nina, something just hit me.
Nina: Huh? A-Are you okay, Athena? Does it hurt?
Athena: Nina, I mean I had a thought.
    Nina: O-Oh.
  • Named by the Adaptation: The judge is named "Lawrence Chambers".
  • Obligatory Swearing: Unlike the other Ace Attorney games, LotH contains swearing.
  • Prelude to Suicide: Nina had been considering suicide before finding Elleixir and SirCaptain, as revealed by Prosecutor Blackquill during the trial.
  • Shout-Out:
    • While explaining VideoVention to Athena, Nina mentions Game Propositions.
    • Then there's Weeklymotionnote  and Miveonote .
    • Another one to Game Theory during the trial:
Blackquill: Remember that Cykes-dono's proposal has not yet been proven. It is just a theory.
Someone in the gallery: An evidence theory!
    • One to NicoB (whom Ash is a fan of) when the judge asks for Oberon Sessler to be escorted out of the courtroom.
Bailiff: Yes, Udgey! [to Oberon] Hey, kid, are you hungry? You want a turkey bagel? Context
  • Younger Than They Look: Quote the description in Lydon Case's Court Record profile: "She looks a lot older than sixteen, though."
