This resulted in rushed situations elsewhere--most notably, Yuya-Zarc's rather uninspired gargoyle-esque look. He also butted heads with the rest of the staff, as he wanted to push the series in [[SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids a more cynical direction.]]
** Series director Katsumi Ono, previously having worked on ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'', was a major figure behind the Synchro arc being as long as it was while the other arcs were shortened.

** Several fans guessed that [[spoiler:Dennis helped kidnap Ruri]] before episode 75 was released, based on the episode summary.
** One of the more popular theories that was proved correct was [[spoiler:that Yugo and Yuto's hatred of the other was because they mistook the other for Yuri]].
** A few fans picked up on the fact that when [[spoiler:the Lancers rejoin in the Fusion Dimension with only Crow apparently tagging along form Synchro, only Tokumatsu and Shinji were mentioned as having urged them to go. Not Jack. And indeed, he shows up in episode 121.]]
** Even since Yuya created Destruction and Creation Magician, fans have guessed that the Dragon Boys and Bracelet Girls were each a single entity once. [[spoiler:The reveal of Zarc and Ray proved them right.]]
** [[spoiler:Episode 128 proved the long held theory that the any of the eight counterparts with families[[note]]Yuya, Yuzu and Ruri (Yuto is speculative)[[/note]] were adopted.]]

* RelationshipVoiceActor:
** [[Creator/KenshoOno Yuya]] and [[Creator/YoshimasaHosoya Reiji]] are also known as [[Manga/KurokosBasketball Basketball buds]].

** Yuya and Hokuto's duel becomes rather interesting when you realize both their [[Creator/KenshoOno voice]] [[Creator/NatsukiHanae actors]] how been at each other's throats before in Anime/AldnoahZero. Though in this case, [[spoiler:Yuya/Slaine won]].
** Even though they haven't had any direct relationship, in another universe, [[Manga/{{Rinne}} Shinji is a shinigami and Dennis is a demon. Oh, and the latter one hates the first for interfering with his homework.]]
** In English, Yuya, [[DubNameChange Zuzu/Yuzu and Ally/Ayu]] are [[{{Anime/Pokemon}} Clemont, Dawn, and Bonnie]].
** Similar to how [[Anime/YuGiOh5Ds Aki]] had a ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' actress ([[Series/TokusouSentaiDekaranger Deka Yellow]] and [[Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger Kyoryu Cyan]]), we have ''three'' Sentai alumni in this series. Yuto is [[Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger GekiBlue]], Shay is [[Series/ZyudenSentaiKyoryuger Kyoryu Blue]] and Yugo is [[Series/HikoninSentaiAkibaranger Akiba Red II]].

* NamesTheSame:
** There's a female character in ''Anime/LoveLive'' also named Shun Kurosaki (and with only one kanji apart from ''ARC-V'''s Kurosaki's name on top of that!).
** Ryozanpaku is also the name of the dojo from ''Manga/KenichiTheMightiestDisciple''

** Action Cards have long been a ScrappyMechanic among the fandom. They get some mixed reviews throughout the series in-universe by characters new to them, and [[spoiler:Jack and Sergey's]] duel has an important point being them ''ignoring'' Action Cards, to say nothing about Gongenzaka's opinion of them. [[spoiler:It reaches the point where SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome occurs in episodes 104 and 105, when both Edo and Kurosaki grab an Action Card, only to discover that its effects will not help them at all.]]

* For the first time in any Yu-Gi-Oh! series, the various Duel Disk designs are actually commented on in-universe by the characters and are used as a way for the characters to determine which dimension they come from, such as when Sora thought Serena, who was protecting Kurosaki, was Yuzu until she activated her Duel Disk and saw it was from Academia.

** UpToEleven in the dub for both sets of counterparts, who are all voiced by the same actor/actress.

* CreatorBacklash: Tsutomu Kamishiro seems to have not had a pleasant time of working on the series, as his Twitter name was "@FuckTheYugioh" before he deactivated his account.

* {{Jossed}}: Due to ARC-V mysterious nature there have been multiple theories that were popular due to a lack of info that were revealed to false when additional information was revealed.
** A huge theory when the show started was that Yuzu really was Ruri. It was jossed with the reveal of the four dimensions and that Yuzu had 3 counterparts.
** It was thought that Reiji would turn out to be a villain. This was jossed when Reiji [[spoiler:actively sided against his father with Yuya.]]
** A lot of people through Yusho would be eviler than he appeared, mostly due to his advice to Yuya to not focus on his sadness. Many through he would be a mastermind or be brainwashed to evil. [[spoiler:His appearance on the show jossed that he's in no real control of the situation and is as kind as he was portrayed.]]
** A lot of people guessed that Ruri willingly sided with the Academia. [[spoiler:Jossed when she only turned due to the Doktor and was able to temporally fight off the effects to save her brother.]]
** A lot of people through that Rin had blond hair while Ruri had green hair. It was quickly revealed that Rin had green hair and Ruri had purple hair.

** Shun Kurosaki is [[Creator/YamatoKinjo]]'s major debut VA role.
