• Author's Saving Throw: Anniversary Edition makes the "journey to the rendezvous point" quest much less frustrating than in 2.5 and Classic: you can choose your own rendezvous point, and pups can swim. The previous version required you to go to one specific point that required crossing Slough Creek, pups would drown almost immediately, and there were only one or two places shallow enough for you to carry them across.
• Meme Acknowledgment:
  • In the 2.5 version's online store, they named the bear figurines "Bob the Bear Toy".
  • The Lost River Classic map has an abandoned movie theater with movie posters referencing two memes in the community: one is "Bob's Angry" (another reference to the "Bob" nickname for bears), and the other is "The Moon Moon Tree", combining the fans' nickname for a dead tree in Amethyst Mountain (the "Moontree") with the "Moon Moon" meme.
• Tribute to Fido: The black cat in the Lost River Classic map is a reference to the devs' cats Sophie and Stuart, while their dog Carmella appears in the Anniversary Edition version of Lost River.
