  • Banned Episode: Over the years, several episodes of Witse have been banned for a variety of reasons:
    • The season 1 episode "De honden" was banned from re-runs, because it featured disgraced actor Guy van Sande.note
    • The season 1 episode "De vergelding" was banned from re-runs for having Walter Quartier, who sexually abused his daughters, as one of the episodes minor characters.
    • The season 6 episode "Ijskoud" was (eventually) banned from re-runs due to the gruesomeness of the murders shown throughout the episode (the victims were sedated (but kept concious), then their tongue was cut out and they were left to choke in their own blood).
    • The season 9 episode "Tattoo Tim" was banned from re-runs for featuring several (rather explicit) sex scenes. This would be quite logical, as most re-runs are broadcasted in the late afternoon, when children would be watching. The episode can still be viewed on Netflix, however.
    • The season 9 two-parter "Vijf" was banned both because of the gruesomeness of the murders (the victims were sedated, then left to suffocate with a plastic bag over their heads) and because it prominently featured sexual abuse of children (including a (somewhat) explicit scene of said abuse). This was, once again, done because the episode wasn't fit to watch for children. Nevertheless, this two-parter is still watchable on Netflix.
    • The season 9 episode "Ademloos" was banned for featuring full-frontal, female nudity in one of its scenes, which was, again, found inappropriate for children. The episode is, once more, still viewable on Netflix.
    • The series' finale, "Zinloos", was banned for featuring a gruesome mass shooting at a playground at the start of the episode. Ironically, the case itself was so gruesome, that it resulted in Witse quitting his job out of depression.
  • Box Office Bomb: W., the feature film starring Witse, which only garnered 33000 (!) viewers when it was shown in Belgian cinemas. This amount was low enough to warrant an internal investigation.
  • Recast as a Regular: Both Inge Paulussen and Viv van Dingenen (who played DI Sam Deconinck and DI Tine Smets respectively) made a guest appearance several seasons before they became regulars. Paulussen played Veerle De Coninck (no relation to Sam) in the season 1 episode "Bijklussen", while van Dingenen played Sonny Derijcke in the season 5 episode "Terminaal".
  • The Character Died with Him: The sudden (and unexpected) death of Sjarel Branckaerts also meant the disappearance of his character, Walter Adriaensen, from the series. His last appearance, in season five of the series, was a posthumous one as well.
