Trivia / Wiseguy

  • The Cast Showoff: Deborah Harry, Glenn Frey, and Tim Curry all get opportunities to show off their musical talents during the Dead Dog Records arc.
  • Dawson Casting: Eddie Tempest is repeatedly referred to as a "teenage rock star." His actor, Billy Wirth, was 27 at the time he appeared.
  • Fake Nationality: Austrian actor Maximillian Schell as the very Cuban Amado Guzman.
  • Rearrange the Song: The Mike Post theme was given a Latin upgrade in Season 4.
  • Star-Making Role: The Mel Profitt arc put Kevin Spacey on the map.
    • William Russ credits his arc on the show with providing his first taste of recognition in the industry.
  • What Could Have Been: Acording to Stephen Cannell another actor was originally cast as Mel Profitt. A week before production began, the actor's father called to inform Cannell that his son had just checked into a drug rehabilitation program and would be unable to appear on the show. Gary Cole was apparently considered for the role, but it is unknown if he was the original actor. Kevin Spacey was cast three days before filming began on his first episode.
    • When it came time to shoot Roger Lococo's disapperaance, his actor (William Russ) asked to have a prop cigar, so that when Lococo vanished, the smoke would be left drifting over the crowd.
