- Referenced by...: Chapter 2 of Deltarune features a parody of the classmate-flavored ice cream in the form of tea named after various party members, carrying over the trait of tasting like how one perceives each flavor's namesake (with one's own flavor being invisible to oneself).
- Sequel Gap: Between every entry in the main series, really. There was an eleven-year gap between Sideways Stories and Falling Down, a six-year gap between Falling Down and Gets a Little Stranger, and a whopping twenty-five year gap between Gets a Little Stranger and Beneath the Cloud of Doom.
- What Could Have Been: The author said his original plan for Paul's chapter of Sideways Stories would be that the narrator would say he could only remember half of it, so Paul would have a conversation with Mrs. Jewls, but Paul's dialogue would be blank and left for the reader to fill in. At the end of the chapter, Mrs. Jewls would turn to the reader and ask what they are doing in her class.
