Trivia / Urban Chaos: Riot Response

Go To

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The game was never released on PC, it has no backwards compatibility whatsoever, and emulating it is difficult. As of January 2022, the only reliable way to play it is with the original hardware and an already-owned or second-hand copy. Due to advances in PS2 emulation, as of 2023 the PS2 version can be played smoothly from start to finish through emulation, though the graphics are not quite a 100% match to original hardware.
  • Similarly Named Works: The game's working title was "Zero Tolerance" (references to which are still present in the game due to the name changing too late for the devs to remove the references), but it had to be changed due to a pre-existing FPS game for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive of the same name. The final name, "Urban Chaos," is also the name used by yet another shooter that Eidos published back in 1999, but the two are completely unrelated save for featuring a police officer protagonist and having the same publisher.
  • Troubled Production: In addition to the legal issues with the Zero Tolerance name, Argonaut Software were experiencing financial troubles and abruptly laid off 100 employees when they were working on the game (which was referred to as Role Call in October 2004).
