In 2021, real-world researchers suggested that such a thing could have happened 42,000 years ago, leading to the extinction of megafauna and the Neanderthals.
• Creator Breakdown: Jeph Loeb wrote the comic while in grief following the death of his son.
• Franchise Killer: The effects were not immediate, but Ultimatum ended up being one of the main causes of the decline and collapse of the Ultimate Marvel line. The sheer death in the comic also cut many storylines short and the Ultimate universe's All Deaths Final mandate made the damage Ultimatum did impossible to fix.
