  • What Could Have Been: Ruby Party, the developers of the game, initially wanted to use the Touken Ranbu IP for a romance adventure game, but the project moved forward as an action game instead, leading to the creation of Warriors.
  • Word of God:
    • Ruby Party planned to include a new character original to Warriors from the start, with the intention of bringing out new appeal in the existing Touken Danshi through their creation. Omokage's creation also helped the developers give the game a sense of unity due to his characterization tying into the games overarching themes.
    • The 15 Touken Danshi in the game were chosen by their significance to real historical figures who played key roles in the Sengoku era, which the era in which the story is set.
    • While they considered adding more characters to the game at first, they realized that doing so would make it more difficult to flesh out each of their individual actions and stories. As an example, in some Warrior games, characters tend to have similar movements, so the number of characters was limited so that they could put more care into creating them. This same careful consideration went into how they approached the story for each character as well, with them deciding that 15 was the best number of characters to include.
    • The developers have stated that there are no plans to add more Touken Danshi via DLC.
    • It's been mentioned that the developers have an interest in developing sequels tackling different time periods.
    • Due to recognizing the possibility that Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- players don't normally play action games, the developers made the game with the idea in mind that it can be a Warriors game that anyone can enjoy it, regardless of their skill level.
    • Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- being single-player played into the decision for Touken Ranbu Warriors to not have a multiplayer option.
