Trivia / The Tom and Jerry Show (2014)

Go To

  • Adored by the Network: This show gets the most amount of airtime of any show (aside from the Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry shorts) on Boomerang as of 2020, airing three times a day.
  • Channel Hop: Just like New Looney Tunes, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, and Bunnicula, this show was Screwed by the Network and moved to Boomerang and its streaming service.
  • The Other Darrin: The series has Rick (Tom's regular owner) voiced by Jason Alexander in season 1, and then by Stephen Stanton in season 2.
  • Role Reprise:
    • The series has Kath Soucie reprising the role of Tuffy from the DVD movies.
    • William Hanna's dialogue for Tom from the classic shorts was reused for this series even after Hanna died in 2001. It's really noticeable due to Hanna recording on mono tape back in the 1940s, which makes the effects sound rough.
  • Same Content, Different Rating: This show is incredibly tame compared to the original MGM shorts, yet it carries a TV-PG rating. This is possibly due to almost all of the Cartoon Network series at the time carrying the same rating (aside from Ben 10: Omniverse, Johnny Test and The Amazing World of Gumball)
  • Screwed by the Network:
    • The 2014 series had all of season 1 burned off during the spring and summer of 2014. The show wouldn't return until February 2016, and new episodes stopped airing in the US by the next month. It wouldn't be until September 2017 that the rest of the season would be released in the US and it still took them a year to release the full season.
    • When Cartoon Network finally returned the show to their schedule in September 2019, it was at 9:00am, a time slot where its target audience are at (or about to go to) school. Safe to say it barely lasted a month before being dropped again.
  • Short Run in Peru: All of season 1 and season 2 aired in other countries before the US.
