• Creator's Favorite Episode: Dominic Polcino named this as his favourite episode that he directed.
• Edited for Syndication: Syndicated versions cut the part after Bart is pushed in the mud by Nelson where Ralph says "You're going to heaven" and the first part of the Kwik-E-Mart scene where Bart plays a video game called Cat Fight.
• What Could Have Been: Marv Albert was originally supposed to appear as the radio talk show host interviewing Sandy Koufax, but he was cut from the cast during pre-production thanks to the sex scandal that briefly derailed his sportscasting career, leading him to be replaced by Roy Firestone. Albert would eventually appear as himself in season 20's "The Burns and the Bees".
• Write What You Know:
  • Writer Donick Cary obtained inspiration from an experience in high school he had with a football coach who had a son on the team. Similarly, Mike Scully had been on a soccer team whose coach would give his son special treatment.
  • The scene where Rainier Wolfcastle is taunting the children was based on an experience George Meyer had with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was following Schwarzenegger during a hike, and overheard him taunting his children.
