Trivia / The Simpsons S13 E1 "Treehouse of Horror XII"

Go To

  • Approval of God: Although the staff confessed that they should have done their homework on Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling admitted that she loved "Wiz Kids".
  • Deleted Scene:
    • In "House of Whacks", when Marge calls the Police, Chief Wiggum is having some trouble with the Robocops who want to know where their money went. They shoot Wiggum who gets under the table, he comes back up and gives them mechanic donuts.
    • In "Wiz Kids", Lord Montymort and Slithers are plotting their scheme, and Lord Montymort feeds Slithers a rabbit followed by a scene showing Bart combing his hair, while the other scene would show Groundskeeper Willie riding an enchanted lawn mower and scolds at it because it hovers above the grass instead of cutting it.
  • Distanced from Current Events: According to producer Ian Maxtone-Graham, the "Treehouse of Horror" episodes "Treehouse Of Horror XII" and "Treehouse Of Horror XIII" from seasons 13 and 14 didn't have "scary names" for the credits (a staple since season 3's "Treehouse Of Horror II") due to the 9/11 attacks, and they wanted to be more serious and sensitive, although executive producer and showrunner Al Jean claims that the "scary names" were dropped because they were too difficult to come up with, before they were brought back in season 15's "Treehouse of Horror XIV".
  • Edited for Syndication: Some TV airings cut the bit about Jesus being hard to catch, ending with Lenny just saying how powerful he is, in "Hex & the City." In "House of Whacks," Homer's reassurance that Marge could be free to marry a machine if something happens to him sometimes gets cut. The credits sequence, with the leprechaun and the frog prince kidnapping Pierce Brosnan, might also get skipped.
  • What Could Have Been: The original ending to "House of Whacks" had the Ultrahouse killing Homer, with the rest of the family reprogramming it with his personality as compensation.
