Trivia / The Emerald Phoenix

  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: When the idea of One For All unexpectedly mutating came up, nothing like that had yet been seen in canon. Several months later, both Himiko and Shigaraki have their Quirks mutate and become far more powerful.
  • Author's Saving Throw: After receiving backlash for the girls toying with Izuku in regards to their relationship despite saying how incredibly important communication is, Primordial Vortex had Izuku give them a mild What the Hell, Hero? in chapter 12 over it, with the boy stating how much their games hurt his feelings. PV admitted he had focused too much on the idea of the girls doing a big reveal for Izuku that he'd forgotten his own advice and only took so long for Izuku to call them out because he needed a good moment to do so.
  • Dear Negative Reader:
    • Relatively mild example. After a reviewer insisted Momo couldn't use the hero name "Izanami" due to Izanami being a goddess of death and destruction, chapter 10 had Melissa bring up that same fact. Momo points out that Izanami was originally a creation goddess, that many deities similarly have conflicting aspects, and that given her immense physical strength, Momo qualifies for both aspects anyway.
    • Chapter 13 begins with a message calling out readers who claim the girls in Izuku's polycule doing things with each other instead of only with Izuku is essentially cucking him when that is in no way how healthy polycules work.
  • What Could Have Been: The story would have included a scene where Aizawa tries to punish Melissa for not using her Quirk during her Quirk Assessment Test, but after speaking with his readers, Primordial Vortex realized it wasn't in-character for how he had written the man. Instead, Melissa informs him beforehand that she's Quirkless.
  • Word of God: Primordial Vortex occasionally shares little tidbits regarding the story.
    • Ojiro and Sado are both removed from the story due to Primordial Vortex finding them boring, stating the latter is just a weaker version of canon Izuku and the former is "more invisible than a naked Toru".
    • The USJ arc took so long he realized too late how much work it would be with twice as many characters to write, especially since he wanted to give all of them some time to shine.
    • The reason Izuku couldn't teleport at the USJ was Kurogiri's Quirk actively warps spacetime around him. Primordial Vortex compared trying to teleport under those circumstances to "making a blind hyperspace jump through an asteroid field".
    • One For All will not drain the life of its holder if they have a Quirk, something Primordial thought was a rather ridiculous reveal made for the sake of drama. He also hated it because it retroactively made Izuku one of the ONLY options for a successor rather than the BEST option.
    • In chapter 9, Yui texts something to Setsuna which goes unrevealed, but makes Setsuna burst out laughing and Momo blush bright red. According to the author, Yui asked Setsuna to send her nudes of Izuku when she had them.
    • Izuku's Hellfire burns even fireproof material because it works on a conceptual level. Which is also how it boils a lake from a considerable distance but doesn't instantly kill people who are much closer.
    • Primordial Vortex confirms that only the first movie would be adapted as he really didn't care for the other two movies. He does end up bringing the third movie's villains into the story as secondary villains.
