Duelling Movies: With the second remake of Carrie. Both films are based on novels about misunderstood teenage girls with supernatural abilities, released in 2013. Genre-Killer: The film was one of the three films whose failure at the box-office killed the paranormal subgenre of YA Novel adaptations that seemed to be on its way out as far back as late 2010.
