• Follow the Leader: To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, which had none of the edge this film had.
• Trans Character, Cis Actor: Cis actor Terence Stamp plays transgender woman Bernadette who is one of the main characters.
• What Could Have Been: Tony Curtis, David Bowie, John Hurt and Tim Curry were considered for the role of Bernadette, but all proved unavailable, while John Cleese turned it down. Colin Firth was considered for Tick/Mitzi and Rupert Everett and Jason Donovan read for the Tick/Mitzi and Adam/Felicia respectively but didn't get on well together.
