• Get Back in the Closet: The filmmaker, who was friends with several gay and lesbian artists, included a same-sex couple in the film: the Emperor of China and a man named Ping Pong, who are romantic with and kiss each other. She openly stated it was so that gay people would feel represented and to portray homosexuality as natural. The scene was censored, but the uncensored version still refers to Ping Pong as des Kaisers Liebling (the Emperor's favourite/darling), and there is arguably some Ho Yay and Les Yay in the depiction of the other characters (e.g. Achmed and Aladin).
