Go To

  • Anonymous Author: Justified to protect his life.
  • Late Export for You: Published in South Korea in 2014, but only translated and published in English in 2017.
  • Saved from Development Hell: The book was originally written in the nineties, but was only recently taken out of the country and published.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title for "Record of a Defection" deliberately echoes the 1920 novel Record of an Escape - like the novel's protagonist Il-cheol is escaping his oppressors, but instead of Japanese colonizers the oppressors are his own country and government.
    • "City Of Specters": Alludes to Marx's famous quote about the "specter of Communism".
  • Writer Revolt: Sort of. According to those who know his identity Bandi is a state-sanctioned writer who wrote The Accusation as an act of rebellion.
