- The Other Darrin:
- KITT and Michael Knight made cameos in the series finale, but were played by stand-ins. While in KITT's case it was justified as him presenting himself as a hologram of a man (whose face was obscured), Michael also appearing with his face back to the camera pushes this into Fake Shemp.
- Non-human actor example: Plato and Kat were replaced by more realistic motorcycles without explanation, and an even sillier-looking HSPV resulted.
- Out of Order: In the episode "EMP", a shielding against the titular weapon was installed on the cars. Later, in "Et Tu Dante", the team's mechanic was revealed to be a traitor. Then, in "The Return of Megaman", the team faces another EMP armed threat, and it turns out the new mechanic, as per his orders, had removed all suspicious parts from the cars - including the shielding. "EMP" aired 19th, "Et Tu Dante" 11th, "The Return of Megaman" 14th.
- What Could Have Been: Edward Mulhare was reportedly cast to reprise his role as Devon Miles in a recurring guest role, but his untimely death the same year the series premiered made this impossible.note
