Trivia / Swamp Thing Volume 2 Issue 56 My Blue Heaven

Go To

  • Reclusive Artist: Stephen Bissette, in his introduction to a Swamp Thing trade reprinting this issue, interprets the story as Moore's personal reflection on the mixed pleasures and dangers of being a creator working in isolation.
  • Referenced by...: In Starman vol. 2 #48, Jack and Mikaal make an emergency landing on the blue planet, where a semi-intelligent incarnation of Solomon Grundy attacks them. Grundy has the same sort of puckered plant tubes, on his torso, that the Swamp Thing had while on that planet.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Bissette, Moore's original script called for the ersatz Abby to scream in pain and terror as the Swamp Thing dismantled her with his fist. Veitch considered this too disturbing to draw and instead depicted "Abby" in this sequence as both silent and continuing to grin vapidly like the lifeless mockery she was.

  • The original printing of this issue included a death certificate for the Swamp Thing on the inside front cover.
